A review goes a long way. My kids love this place, I love this place. I’ve never had a bad experience with the food, staff or atmosphere until today. I ordered 3 pulled pork tacos and garlic fries to go for my lunch break. As I’m eating I felt something with a weird texture that I couldn’t break down with my teeth and nearly choked on it. I assumed it was a bone that accidentally made it’s way into my meal but I was wrong. I pulled out a piece of plastic about 2 inches long. I already ingested half of my taco so who knows if there was more. As previously stated, this establishment is a family favorite, however when the cooks/staff are careless enough to not see anything inedible entering a plate of food, ready to be eaten, it has to make you wonder what else is happening in the kitchen. I’m completely disgusted because I can’t for the life of me figure out what this plastic could be from. Maybe meat packaging? It’s pretty thick and extremely unacceptable. Just a warning to make sure you take a look at what you’re eating, I’m glad this was my plate of food and not my kids’.

Buckhorn has always been one of the staples in downtown Sac, and still is the prefect spot for barbecue cuisine. The staff has always been friendly, including at other locations as well, the restaurant environment is modern and welcoming. Takeout, which is what I usually prefer, allows for you to pick up quality food if you are in a rush. I ordered the tri tip sliders side and broccoli salad, tri tip is always a bomb

We ordered the 2 meat combo with Salmon, Ribs, Mac n cheese, onion rings, and tri tip burger. The salmon was plain no flavor and overcooked, the ribs were dry, the mac n cheese lacked flavor. The onions rings were really good the best I’ve had so far, seasoned well and batter was light. The burger had a good char grilled flavor to it and not overcooked but not as juicy as I would have liked it. They do charge for extra ranch which I didn’t like.

Great food. I had the pretzel. So good. It was soft, and My only complaint is there’s no chicken gravy. I had a friend who doesn’t eat beef and was sadden to know that the gravy they had was beef only. Can you please get some chicken gravy in the menu.

My husband and I were looking for a new local BBQ place and we found Buckhorns. We decided to give it a try. The service was great. They greeted us as soon as we walked through the door. You order at the counter so it feels like a fast food restaurant but at the same time, it felt like a seated restaurant. They have a bar, self-serve drinks and a variety of different bbq sauces. We have been there two times. We are planning to go back again and again.

We have picked up take out from this location multiple times. Each dinner has been great. My go to is the Bacon Avocado Sandwich. The chicken is always moist and I love the red ranch sauce. Someone in my party (who is usually rather nit picky) ordered the smoked sausage platter, and was a big fan. Each order has been ready on time, is never missing an item, and tastes delicious. Our new go to

I’ve had good tri tip sandwiches at Buckhorn in the past. Decided to order one delivered this time: it was a major disappointment: very over-salted and the meat cooked until crisp and blackened. No meat flavor left, just salt. I would have sent it back had I been eating in the restaurant!

One of my FAVORITE places to go eat! I have been slowly trying different things on the menu and so far I love everything! The smoked flavor and char on the meat is so addicting! From the chicken to the ribs, pulled pork to the tri tip, it’s all good and leaves you wanting more! Their roadhouse onions are a perfect combo of salty chewy sweet and the perfect topper for any meat sandwich. Onion rings are too few in an order and I am licking the crumbs off the container. I absolutely love this place!

Do you know when the first Buckhorn Grill was opened? It was opened 1999 in the city called Metreon, San Francisco, CA. Yay, it’s California based company.
