They don’t make places like this any more! Reminded me of old diners in the mid-west town I grew up in. Waitress was happy to share the history of ownership and how it passed from one family member to another. There was a group of local older gentlemen behind me and I got the impression they come there for breakfast and socializing most mornings. They talked about the weather, who was sick and who wasn’t, and a bit of the local gossip. Lots of gentle ribbing of each other. It’s the sort of place that holds the fabric of American life together in many small towns. We could use a few more of these establishments vs. big chains.

Bud’s restaurant is a gem in Defiance, OH. Upon entering, I was kindly greeted and offered suggestions and a menu. I ordered the current special, roast beef, mashed potatoes and carrots and it was amazing and priced extremely well!. Tasted as great as any home cooked meal and for a traveling professional, that is a huge thing.

My sister, niece and I went for lunch with special hopes of a well known piece of Buds pie for dessert. My niece and I had the delicious hamburger with everything basket, that made it a yummy and delicious meal with more French fries than we could eat, my sister had the famous rivel soup and a toasted cheese sandwich….her comment was..Now THIS is how a grilled cheese sandwich is made! Tammy was our waitress and made everything perfect, especially when she delivered our freshly made coconut and banana cream pies, which originally said they didn’t have yet;) mmmm..we loved everything!!

Happened upon this cute little place while traveling. It hasn’t been updated in some time, however in this case it isn’t an issue! Friendly staff, great food for the price, and the PIES! The peach, and the strawberry rhubarb were amazing! Just like Grandma’s!

Very good old diner. I like the old feel, but some updates are necessary to not appear “dirty”. Not saying it WAS dirty (don’t think it was at all!) but first impression can be that thought. After being there you can see all is clean, just worn out
