I was greeted with a smile. Saw an old high school associate and got to experience some real food. It’s the real food for me. They’re not using canned collards or store bought potato salad like many other “well known” restaurants are. They’re cleaning collards and peeling potatoes! It was seasoned well. I did add a packet of sugar to my potato salad though. The prices are reasonable and the chicken taste like my aunt Mattie (RIP) fried it so it was a win in my book!

Waiter was very unpleasant. Acted as if didn’t want to be here to work. Chicken is very greasy. Side dishes aren’t good at all. They had no taste or seasoning. I wouldn’t recommend this place. We paid $10 for that plate.

Passed by today for good country helping of almost everything on the menu LOL was absolutely fantastic. First off I had no problem getting my son’s wheelchair through the door. I found the prices to be quite fair and reasonable for the delicious food you are getting. I’m from Charleston originally and this is the best lima beans! I had the fried chicken in the ribs and a whole bunch of sides. I like that the soda was extra large also. I highly recommend this restaurant the food is absolutely delicious! Terrific customer service and wonderful ambience hometown at its finest!

Good down home cooking with staff who are spot on. They are familiar with their customers and what we order and it’s ready in a timely manner. These folks are family in our own little Mayberry!

Attended a conference in Ayden and we walked around the corner to Bum’s. It was lunchtime and a bit crowded and of course it was about 30 or so of us so we packed our patience and waited our turn. The servers were able to get everyone through the line fairly quickly. They had an array of main entrees and side dishes. I got the chicken and BBQ, collards and mac and cheese, a roll and banana pudding. I couldn’t resist so I tasted my banana pudding first and it was still warm. I was in heaven it was so good. The food was good and plentiful as I had to wrap it up and take it with me. Ended up splitting the rest up for dinner with my husband, the portions were that big. The Pepsi was strong and cold and the waitresses were nice and helpful.

Well this is a hard review to write but I was really disappointed in the BBQ at Bum’s in Ayden. The selection on the buffet looked great and the service was great as well. The BBQ pork was hand chopped which I loved but the taste was not there. Way too much smoke, almost like liquid smoke had been poured on the que. Even after I finished, I still taste the smoke flavor. The sauce was not my favorite either. The creamed corn, pork chops and corn sticks were good. I would give them 3 stars. With Skylight Inn right down the road I am afraid I won’t be coming back for the pork.

My family and I make day trips all around NC, one Saturday a month. This Saturday we visited Ayden and Bum’s Restaurant. We went through the drive thru. The staff was quick and the bbq sandwich was so good! You could really taste the smoke without it being too much and the coleslaw was a great compliment to the meat. The sandwich was big and the price was a great value! So far out of 10 different restaurants we have visited, it is the BEST! I can’t wait to make a second trip and this time try their sides.
