Beautiful place, went around 2pm, I like the natural lighting look they got going on inside and the dark stone makes it feel nice and relaxing. The curry was good, but personally wish it was a lil more spicy and the plate they served it on was a lil smaller that it was kinda difficult to just mix it all up, but the plating was nice and organized. I get the chicken karaage on the side and add it to my curry bc their chicken karaage by itself is good but in the curry 9/10 The garlic ramen was pretty good if you like garlic, I would rate it about 8/10, only wish their “pork Chashu” was more meaty and less fatty would make give it a more Japanese authentic feel to me, but let me tell you they do a soft boiled egg right, I went to a couple places here in SD and the “soft boiled” egg would come out hard boiled rather than that soft boiled consistency. Also got the green tea milk and that was good as well. (Only picture of the ramen I got my woman got her finger all up in it so sorry for not having a better picture.)

This place lives up to the 4.8 rating. It’s a small little place but the ramen is good and so is the service. The fried avocado was also great. I saw someone order the milky green tea, I think I might go back just to try it

Just moved back to the states after living in Japan and this place made me miss Japan a little less. The aesthetic and attention to details is amazing. The workers are so friendly and offer customizations to menu items. The golden curry warmed my soul. The flavor was out of this world. Portions were generous. Highly recommend coming here to satisfy your ramen needs.

Took myself on a solo date here. That Golden Curry Ramen was soooo good. And it was so hot I burned my mouth, but worth it. I also really enjoyed the Avocado Tempura!

I came here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised I ordered the katsu curry, the milky green tea (not too sweet perfect for me), and the green tea ice cream for dessert all of it was delicious will be visiting again!

This completely unassuming place is an absolute gold nugget in this neighborhood. The staff are super friendly and courteous! This cute decor was spaced and decorated just right to give that cozy warm atmosphere feel. The food was down right delicious and flavorful. I tried the Old school Tonkotsu which was delightfully traditional. Pork gyoza was on point and highly recommend the milky green tea NOM!

Honestly, I hesitated giving a review because of how lovely this place is as a hidden gem. Atmosphere, food, service, and cost are all 5/5. Spice levels just right for me (low tolerance). Their menu has pictures for nearly everything but I’ve been a couple times and don’t think you can go wrong. The entrees are thoughtfully put together and there’s a great selection for different “types” based on your appetite (spicy, light, heavy, savory, etc.)

10/10 for this ramen shop! We ordered garlic ramen, if you love garlic, you will definitely fall in love with this one. The broth is rich and thick, not overly salty (lots of shops here make super salty broth). Noodles are on the thin side, not too chewy which is sth I love. Amazing ramen, will definitely go back!!

How did I just discovered Buta Japanese Ramen? Wow. This place was such a solid find tonight. Out of all the ramen restaurants in San Diego, Buta definitely deserves a spot as one of the city’s top ramen shops.

Pretty solid ramen for the US. I’ve lived in Japan for a bit and can say that it was similar to some shops. The char siu is cooked correctly compared to other ramen restaurants in the area.
