If you happen to be trekking across IA or visiting the Des Moines area I encourage you to make the trip down to Pella, IA and have a meal at Butcher’s Brewhuis. Tonight’s dinner was the Apple Pecan Smoked Pork Chop and it left my tastebuds in awwww, so delicious.

We called to make a reservation and found it very odd that they asked if we were all 21+. I’ve never been to a restaurant that didn’t allow children before. We didn’t really care too much since we’re plenty old enough. But then we have a family with kids get sat next to us. Super strange. The place was very empty for a Saturday night, so I’m not sure if they were compensating or what. We asked for 2 drink items that they didn’t have. Then I settled for a water. I noticed online they had pasta, but then no pasta items on the menu. Im not a big meat eater. I again, settled for a side salad. My husband got a $39 ribeye. He said it was delicious. Probably won’t be back.

Nice place, great food with their own prepared meats. You will spend some money even for sandwiches/burgers, but comparable to other nicer restaurants. Lots of seating room if you don’t mind going upstairs.
