Byte – Coffee and Burritos was founded by two IT Professionals of which one lives and works downtown. and the other previously having 10 years experience in the restaurant business owned and operated 4 locations in downtown ABQ in the 90’s.
The need downtown for a good, spicy breakfast burrito and a great cup of coffee at an affordable price was too overwhelming not to address and being IT guys, when we see a problem we fix it.
Byte is a takeout café with a walk-up window located at 4th and Central Ave. on historic Route 66. Being geeks we utilize cutting edge technology for online ordering, food prep, 21st century home cooking in the traditional New Mexico style making everything on the menu fresh daily.

Got their #1 and #2 to go, tried the green AND red and made a plate to try it all. I’m from NM but live just across the border in CO… Let me tell you, you can not get breakfast burritos or chile like this in Colorado. Just don’t even try! Ratios of egg/potato/meat was on point, both the red and green had great spice level and flavor. 10/10 will eat again. Thank you Byte for helping me get my fix!!

Not many solid places to get burritos downtown but that has changed! Ordered online and got a chicharron burrito. The chicharrons are really tasty and meaty. I got X-mad and the chile is delicious. I’ll definitely be back to try a breakfast burrito. I also love that they have Frito pie as an option!

Byte!, Located downtown where Tuerta sandwich shop used to be. The owner and employees are friendly. The burritos are made as soon as you order, fresh. Quality ingredients, the red and green chili including the sauce is excellent. Great prices especially for the quality. I live in the neighborhood and I will be coming back routinely. Support local build a community, and say no to corporate business.

New spot in downtown Albuquerque. Walk-up window service or you can stand and eat under their shaded patio with counter. Had a breakfast burrito with refried beans. Good stuff. The red chile was excellent and had a…byte to it. I try to limit my tortilla intake but I’ll definitely be craving another one of these and will need another soon. Sandwiches and burritos hover at $6 which is a good price point. Prices excellent overall. Currently open M-F 7am-2pm. I’ll be back to try a turkey bagel sandwich and their coffee.

I decided to check out Byte because I’m always looking for a good breakfast option and there’s not very many downtown. I got a sausage breakfast burrito with red chile and I have to say it was delicious. The chile had plenty of heat and great flavor. Staff was nice and they got my food out quick. I’ll be going back for sure.

I ordered online a #1 bacon breakfast burrito with no chile and no cheese. I added tomatoes and beans. $10 plus $2 tip. I got home and noticed the burrito was small and it was missing hashrown and eggs and it was cold. Not worth $12.

I don’t know whos typing these review but they obviously haven’t actually eaten there. The burritos are so small and when I specified “Christmas” they said their chili mixes together so you cant taste the green. Im sorry I wasted my money on this place.
