What an absolute amazing experience we had here. Bishop was our waiter,and I think he was the best waiter we’ve ever had at any restaurant. The food was phenomenal, our drinks were always full, the used plates were always removed quickly. I have nothing bad to say about Cafe Dupont!

4.5 out of 5 stars. My husband and I took our son to Café Dupont for his 21st birthday. The night started wonderfully. We sat down and ordered drinks. My daughter (with 9 food allergies) ordered a Shirley Temple. The server asked if anyone had food sensitives, we told him about her food allergies and that we brought her food. He offered to bring her a plate and still asked about the allergies (important later). Shortly after our drinks arrived along with the amuse bouche (smoked salmon crostini with some sort of glaze). For appetizers, we had the seared foie gras (me), the compressed watermelon salad (hubby), and the fried oysters and okra (son). Everything was on point for my husband and my son. The only complaint I had wad the bread with the foie gras was not crispy. This caused a texture issue for me. I needed something crunchy. That being said, the flavor was exceptional. After our appetizers, the palette cleaner came (a watermelon sorbet). Our server even brought one for our daughter because it was free of all her allergens. This made her night. She always loves when she can eat something from a restaurant we visit. We then ordered the following entrées: Cast Iron Seared Large Sea Scallops (me), Farm-to-Table Vegetable Tasting (hubby), and the Grilled Elysian Fields Double Cut Lamb Chop & Roasted Lamp Leg (son). Shortly afterward, we got an alert on our phones that my husband’s car was moving. It was being towed (OMG). This immediately ruined his evening (I can’t blame him). He left to deal with the car issue and our food was delivered to the table. My scallops were seared to perfection. The crust on the fried potato cake had such a light and crispy crust, not oily at all. My son ate everything on his plate. For a minute I thought the bone in his lamb chop might be a goner. My husband hasn’t eaten his food yet (still upset about his car being towed). We decided to skip dessert this time since my husband had just gotten his car out of impound and he was ready to go. I loved our server and I can’t believe I don’t remember his name! I want to give him a shout-out. Café Dupont is a great special occasion /splurge restaurant. We will return.

First time here – classic white tablecloth. Exceptional service, including covering the plates and busing tables and giving the ladies who are wearing all black dresses black table napkins instead of white. It says little details that just make it exceptional experience.

Had an amazing dinner here with a friend. Our server was so kind and so funny, and the food was delicious. The fried chicken is to-die for, but we enjoyed everything we ordered from the cheese plate to start to crème brûlée for dessert. We also enjoyed a couple of tasty French 75s and the best espresso martinis either of us had ever had. Including pictures of our starter and dessert, but I didn’t even snap one of my entree because I was so excited to dig in and enjoy. What a special place!

I’ve experienced many restaurants; however, Cafe Dupont tops them all. We had a party of 8 for a birthday celebration. Every individual was amazed at the customer service. The food, oh my!! The food was flavored to perfection. We had several appetizers, which were so good. It had us anticipating how good our food was going to taste. Which Cafe Dupont executed on every level. Thank you for this pleasant experience.

Classy, but not pretentious. The atmosphere was good, certainly not bad, just not outstanding. The entire meal was simply outstanding, not even the smallest flaw. Our waitress was warm and engaging, as appropriate to an experienced and confident waitress. The wine list was expansive, as were the prices. This was to me a five star restaurant with prices as expected for the same. Not a romantic place, yet still suitable for most special occasions. A warm and welcoming landmark in Birmingham Alabama. You’ll tell your friends, “why yes, we had dinner at Cafe Dupont”, they’ll be jealous.

From the amuse-bouche and champagne to start the meal to the chocolates at the end, everything was perfect. The waitstaff were all lovely and very accommodating. We especially enjoyed the charcuterie with pâté, terrine and hard boiled deep fried egg . I had the vegetable plate for my entrée and the portion was generous and the vegetables were seasonal. We finished out the meal with a fall favorite apple dessert. Everything was excellent. Highly recommend.

One of the most outstanding dining experiences I’ve ever had. I very much enjoyed our waiter Caleb, he was very knowledgeable of everything on the menu. The a-muse-bouche was the absolutely perfect bite with smoked salmon. The palate cleanser of berry and basil sorbet was perfect in between the martinis and the ahi tuner appetizer. Everything was amazing from the proper wine presentation from Caleb, to the most amazing entrees we could have ordered. We were told the plum tart dessert was brand new and came to the pastry chef in a dream just a few days prior, all I can say is truly hope he keeps creating his dreams because it’s the most amazing crust on a tart I’ve ever had! Do yourself a favor and come enjoy yourself at Cafe Dupont and see what real fine dining is!
