The owner was very attentive and kind. The food we had was scrumptious! We ate the fried chicken plate and the fried pork chops plate. Their sides were yummy: candied yams and collard greens. The cornbread was fluffy and yummy! Definitely recommend you trying this place!

My boyfriend and I stopped here in April when we were in Baton Rouge because we wanted to try some authentic soul food. The food did not disappoint whatsoever! We are both from Canada and have never had American soul food and the food at Cafe Express lived up to all of my expectations. The place is no frills but the portions are heafty, the food is delicious and the staff are so sweet and kind ❤️ One tip I have though is GO EARLY! By the time we got there (after 1:00 pm) they were sold out of a lot of there stuff that we would have loved to try-next time we are in Louisiana we will be sure to come by for an early lunch!

The Cafe is excellent. I received a thin-cut, freshly prepared, properly seasoned pork chop along with grits, scrambled eggs, toast, and a beverage. The customer service is also really fantastic. Recomended
