I wasn’t satisfied with the meal. I got charged for the avocado I would have appreciated if they would have told me the avocado was for money. (Not even a full avocado with it). They charged me for a drink which was way more expensive than what it deserved. The drink was really tasting funky. It took way too much time as well. And the tamales are ordered just tasted horrible. In my opinion I would not recommend this place unless you’re trying to get scammed.

The food was great – delicious and generous portions. The service was awesome too – they took the time to explain what several menu items were that we were unfamiliar with. Will definitely be back.

My experiences here have been nothing short of fantastic. The experience is always pleasant and friendly. Everything is prepared fresh to order which makes the product taste incredible. I’ve had a few pupusas and they are always delicious and packed generously with whatever filling you order. The frijol is my favorite. I love the garnishes too. The spicy salsa is flavorful and bold and pairs perfectly with the flavor of the pupusa. Can’t recommend a visit enough.

Excellent food. I have enjoyed everything I have eaten at Cafe Guanaco. My favorites are the chicken soup, pupusas, plantains with cream and cheese. And the hot chocolate is amazing! Family run business…I love to support these excellent people.

Cafe Guanaco’s Pupusas are excellent. Some of the best I’ve had. Nice and thick with plenty of filling. Served with as much cortido as you can eat.

I was in search of the best Salvadorean restaurant in SLC and a Google search brought me to Café Guanaco. The experience was deeply unsatisfactory. The dried and flavorless chicharron filling in the pupusa made it impossible for me to eat more than the first bite. I would caution against dining there, especially if you are seeking a well-prepared and delicious pupusa experience. Exploring alternative options would likely yield a more enjoyable culinary adventure.

The pupusas were wonderful and the cabbage and salsa to accompany was great. Very affordable for the quality. I personally loved the plantains and crema but my friend from Caribbean felt they were too soggy compared to what she’s used to.

Service was rough! Took forever to get our food. And when they brought it out there was no curtido… I thought that was a norm for pupusas. Had to ask and eventually got it after much confusion. Food was good but not worth the service experience, it ruined it honestly.

I ordered from this place today, I don’t know if they just gave me very old pupusas; they were dry and just tasted terrible. Please don’t serve what you wouldn’t want to be served.
