Upon my daughter’s recommendation I visited Caffe Capri looking to have little clams over spaghetti. I ordered a dish which immediately smelled extremely foul fishy smell. The minute the plate came out I knew something was wrong. I tried one clam just to be sure and it had somewhat of a foul taste. I then took a picture thinking maybe it was just me , so I tried a second one upon biting into I immediately spit it out. The waiter then came over and asked how my meal was. I told him it smelt extremely fishy and I believed the clam were bad. He then Proceeded to ask me if I wanted a bag to take it to go! I said no there was something wrong with the dish. Against my better judgement I order something else surely after I believe it was the owner who then came out to ask about my meal. When I explained that the clams were bad he proceeded to tell me he watched me on the camera count the clams and take a picture of the clams. So I proceeded to tell him then he should have seen me spit the clam out. Then he tried to tell me it was the Parmesan cheese that threw off the taste of the foul, stinking , fishy taste! He proceeded to tell me he would take it off the bill as if he was doing me a favor. It was the first and LAST time I will step foot in this restaurant, due to the rude owner who was as foul as the clams I was served!

I’ve been coming to this restaurant since my daughter was three years old. My daughter is now eleven. She loves to come here for the amazing oven brick pizza and Pasta. Everybody should come and try their lunch special with their new home made focaccia bread. With $13.00 dollars you can have a gourmet lunch besides the stuff goes above and beyond to please You, and Dominic *the owner* is the most friendly guy I’ve ever met. I Love the way he treats his customer. Overall Cafe Capri is our favorite Italian restaurant in East Rutherford.

This was my first time here. My friend brought me here for my birthday. Great service from the minute we walked through the door. The owner, Eddie, came to the table and introduced himself. Gave us background on the restaurant. Fresh, organic ingredients and family ran. Our servers, Juan and Roman, were very attentive and friendly. Everything was fresh, good portions. We started with the fried calamari and brick oven personal pizza. The margarita pizza was delicious! I added shrimp to my pasta primavera. The shrimp were large and perfectly cooked. We shared a tiramisu which came with whipped cream topped with blueberries and cinnamon. Best I’ve ever had! There was a DJ on a Friday night which added to a great atmosphere. Its BYOB. They also offer carryout. I cannot wait to return.

This is not a hidden gem, what a disaster! We got there and our waiter looked like he was asleep, took forever to bring us drinks and take out order. The menu had one price but then when we got the bill everything was $5 more. I brought it up to the owners attention and he said that they didn’t get a chance to change the menus and that everything had gone up. I understand that but we should have been given a heads up when they brought out the menu. After raising this to him he asked me to leave a 5 star review online, I just laughed. Food was horrible, no taste and definitely not worth the price. $30 for one piece of chicken and some veggies. Won’t be back.

I use to love this place but it has really gone down hill. The bus boy spilt sauce all over my lap he doesn’t apologize but tells me it’s not hot & makes me feel like it’s my fault if that wasn’t bad enough he comes back out of the kitchen & makes a wise comment like I caused him to spill the dinner on my lap. When we got the bill the prices were 30% higher than the Menu prices. Service was terrible on top of it. I think it changed owners I see no familiar faces. Food was not as good as it was in the past. I recommend not going there.

Cafe Capri is small gem of an Italian restaurant in East Rutherford .it’s been there for years. I go there often. I especially love the marinara pizza which has fresh tomato slices and fresh garlic.Keep in mind that this pizza has no cheese,but all their pizzas are good.Also try the ricotta cheese cake ,it is the best and has coconut.
