I’ve been to calaveras twice and I can’t wait to go again. The menu is filled with flavorful classics like street corn, tostadas tingas, and flautas. The burritos are stuffed full so the prices match the portions really well. I’ve had the chicken tingas twice and even though it was a bit cold the second time I would still have it a third. Laso tried the street corn which is amazing! The staff is friendly and the kitchen is fast! Thanks for stocking aguas frescas and Jarritos!!!

Heard great things, food was good, but slow to receive our food. Quiet lunch day so that was a bummer. Maybe understaffed? Great location, would give it another chance. Wish you could get guac as a side, paid six bucks for an app side that was kind of small for the price. Again, good fresh food, will try again.

Shrimp tacos were fantastic. Marinade was flavorful and the slaw was crisp. I think they are still figuring out the growing pains associated with their new location.. service wasn’t awful but also not 5 star. We’ll definitely be back, maybe in September after the tourists go home

I work right down the street and was thrilled too hear about something new in this area. The food was AWESOME, I had a pulled pork quesadilla and an order of guacamole, what a nice lunch. I have never left a review online, I felt the need to leave 5 stars for these guys, small business with good quality food and the customer service at the counter was really good. The gentleman who took my order just seemed like a genuinely happy person- gives this place a shot, I will definitely be back!

I was in the mood for Mexican food and wanted to give this place a shot. Service was great, but food wasn’t anything to rave over. Being an avid Mexican food lover, I was disappointed. This is your classic American interpretation of authentic Mexican food. Flavor wasn’t there, portion wasn’t there, and it’s an insult to Mexican cuisine. Taco Bell has more of an idea on how to make a flavorful burrito, c’mon man.

We love Mexican food but this was awful. The beef taco had hard, dry chunks of flavorless hamburger. The shrimp tacos were pretty good. No rice or beans with the meal. Left most of the food on the plate.

Some of the prices were higher than I was first anticipating, but once I got my food, the quality and portion sizes made it well worth it. I had the Chili Rellanos. Everything was fresh, delicious, and prompt. My leftovers made a great lunch for the next day. I can’t wait to visit again.

Ordeted Pastor Tacos to go, with sour cream and cheese. When I got them home, careful to keep the box the same way it was handed to me, the pork was everywhere and it was incredibly oily. Made an absolute mess and the pork was way too salty. Prices were fair, the service was fast, and the worker was very pleasant. Not a great first experience, but I hope a second trip will yield a better result.

Good and friendly service, I ordered the fish tacos and guacamole with chips. I realized prior to ordering the fish tacos that they were not fried, which was too bad. The tacos were ok, not much flavor, wouldn’t order them again. Diego’s in Newport are the best! The guacamole however was tasty and the chips were excellent, not greasy. I will probably try another menu item in the future, I love carnitas, so we’ll see!
