I recently hired Caliente Mexican Grill to cater my son’s high school graduation party. I was a little nervous at first, as I’ve only ever eaten at their restaurant before, and I wasn’t sure how the food would translate to a large event. I was in line today ordering a wet burrito and this guy that took my order for the cold section was really stingy with the toppings. He was doing the tiniest pinches of everything, especially guacamole. The serving size of the guacamole was less than a plastic spoon. I asked if he could put more than that but he said it’ll be an extra charge. Very unprofessional and unethical. As I watched the people order after me he gave them normal portion sizes. Very upset, this restaurant gets worse and worse over time, first it was price inflation now it’s just being stingy with ingredients.

Waited in line for about 15 minutes (they were very busy dealing with lots of orders), was asked what I wanted, after saying burrito my man got the wrap ready and asked the next person in line what they wanted. They said rice bowl. He started preparing their bowl which forced me to step out of line a bit. The person following that person then ordered a burrito, then I was simply ignored as the guy started making his burrito with the one he was preparing for me in the first place. So I stood there in the middle of the line being ignored, and filled with anger I left since I had no more time to be standing around in a line I already waited in.

Calientes is the absolute best food you can get on campus. I’ve never had a better burrito in my entire life and all the ingredients are made fresh every day. If you think you know what good queso tastes like and you’ve never been to Calientes your dead wrong. The guys who work there are super friendly and make you feel at home when dining in. It’s very hard to find healthy food on a college campus and somehow this place is just that while simultaneously being the best comfort food ever. I’ll never forget this place and will guarenteed be coming back for visits even after I graduate. Go Rhody!

Try the 007 Tacos, they’re fantastic. The burrito bowls and the quesadillas are great, they’ve got surprisingly good wings too. The hot salsa is something unique if you like spicy food.
