We had the pleasure of dining at Chef Shane’s restaurant on multiple occasions during my stay, and I must say, it was an exceptional culinary experience that left a lasting impression. The breakfasts were simply unparalleled, as my husband even declared them the best he’s ever had. We enjoyed the cozy ambience of the restaurant, especially the comfortable wing back chairs by the window that allowed us to start our day on a relaxed note.

First time going and have many many plans to return. The establishment itself is very classy looking, with a wide and tasty menu. Their moonbeam cocktail is probably the best I’ve ever had as an adult in the North country.

Campfire is located in Hotel Saranac, where we stayed for 2 nights. We tried drinks, dinner and breakfast here and absolutely loved it! The interiors are fresh and clean. The food itself was 4 stars, adding another star for the fantastic service.

Our second visit. Lots of service mistakes (eg, fall menu given to us when seated but not yet available at end of summer; aioli skipped not on the side; protein on salad not added). Some people thought dishes were unexpectedly over seasoned (fried chicken too peppery; fries too salty). But the drinks were good and atmosphere cheery. Want the place to succeed, hope it grows into its vision.

I had the mac & cheese and added some pork to it. It was delicious and filling! My server was super lovely. I’d definitely go back!

While in Saranac Lake for a week went here for breakfast they had just opened for the day so it wasn’t busy. After I was seated and water and my beverage were brought over I ordered the Campfire Breakfast which is 2 eggs any style Tucker farm breakfast potatoes choice of meat I chose thick cut bacon and country toast. It was excellent my over easy eggs were perfect the potatoes had great flavor and cooked perfectly they were done but still had body to them the thick cut bacon 3 pieces were crispy as I had ordered and the country toast was very good to it only comes with one large piece so if your like me and like to sop up all the yolk from your eggs you might want to ask for a second piece right away that way you might also have some left for the delicious strawberry preserves that comes with the breakfast in a small jar. I know I did. My server who was working by themselves was very good and took care of the 8 or 9 people who were there smoothly and friendly. I will have breakfast here again before I leave town.

Tasty food, fun drinks, and personable, knowledgeable and attentive staff . We had a wonderful time dining here. (Food highlights: the ribeye: local meat and well-prepared served on top of amazing mashed potatoes and worth every penny; watermelon salad: perfect in summer; mocktails for the kids; and a nice selections of wines (highly recommend the Prosecco and the Pinot Noir.)

We ordered 5 entrees among our party of 5. WE WILL NOT BE BACK and here is why. OUR MEALS: **Farm to Flatbread: there was a large hair embedded in the dough part of my daughter’s flatbread. It was also barely warm, dry, and tasteless. The waiter removed her plate, apologized, and took it off our bill when requested, but made no offer to have a new plate of food made. She barely ate any of her dinner before discovering the hair, so she left hungry. **2 Campfire Burgers: fries were almost fried black on both plates; so over-fried and limp. The burgers were however cooked medium rare as ordered, but absolutely no toppings. **Crispy Fried Chicken: small chicken thigh was fried almost black and thigh meat was dry and salty. The coleslaw was watery and had an odd inedible taste. The macaroni and cheese was barely warm, dry, and tasteless. Lomo Saltado: meat was not cooked medium rare as ordered, and not even prepared as described. Plate had tiny pieces of overcooked beef, and did not resemble what was anticipated, as waiter said prior to ordering that it was one of his favorite dishes. Came with rice and fries; odd. Again, fries were over-fried until almost black. This was just the absolute worst food ever. For as limited as the menu is, there is no excuse for what is being served to customers. Menu items we ordered were between $16-29. We did tell our server about the over-fried food when he took my daughter’s meal. The cooks and waiter clearly knew the food was terribly prepared, but decided to serve it anyway. The only item that was delicious was the cornbread, served before a lengthy wait for our food. As we left, a woman at the hotel main desk asked how our meals were. We told her and she jotted down some notes to share with the hotel manager. I get the impression that a new staff is cooking. We honestly did not see anyone in the restaurant that looked happy with their meals tonight. I was compelled to write this review; no exaggeration, it was really that bad. Shocked as most of the previous reviews have been favorable, hence the reason we tried this restaurant to begin with. The manager is welcome to get in touch with me for additional information.

After some confusion about our reservation, we were seated at what is a charming little hotel restaurant. While the staff was friendly, they kept forgetting our meals and, by the time we got them, they were lukewarm at best. They also mixed up two of our dishes. The drinks were okay but the dishes were tasty. The cornbread and the ribeye shone and the fried chicken was very good. Pretty pricey.

Had breakfast, Poached on top of avocado toast. Wasn’t bad. Would have preferred a bed of guacamole. Was with 3 others. French toast was good. Omlettes were sub standard with home fries which were not fully cooked. Had dinner there the night before. Fried chicken seemed to be enjoyable. I had red snapper which should have stayed in the ocean.
