I wanted chicken fajitas but was told they use cilantro in their black beans and rice. I love black beans but not cooked with cilantro. I couldn’t eat any of the dishes served I like because of cilantro being in it. I was truly disappointed. I ended up ordering a cheese bacon burger on an over size cheddar cheese bun. The burger was delicious being cooked on a charcoal grilled, but not what I usually order at a Mexican restaurant. The other guests at my table enjoyed their Mexican style foods.

Great food, great atmosphere! The crispy tacos were full of flavor and delicious! The queso dip is top tier.

The service is horrible. Ive come here several times as I work in the area and it’s convenient. Every time I come the service is just lacking. Often, they will drop off a water and then wait between 15-30 min to actually take your food order. Most of the time when it’s slow the employees are in their phones not paying attention and you often have to flag down other people who aren’t your server. The service staff overall is just lazy and does not pay attention to the customers. They never check back with their tables and often ignore them and asking for the check is a very lengthy process.

Don’t skip the chips! I can’t imagine anyone can get to the 2nd “limit 2” margarita either! Food is consistently good. They have a little outdoor seating but it’s always full when we go. They aren’t as full as they were pre-covid for sure and I know staffing is hard — but everyone we’ve gotten here has been too notch.

Good food and service and an interesting Mexican ambience. We tried salmon salad and tortilla soup and found them tasty. It may not be your healthiest restaurant as some of the chips were deep fried. The soup could be less salty.

Great food one of the best entrees I’ve had in a long time . The waitress (Shayna) was extremely helpful and friendly . I was so impressed with her going above and beyond her job duties. I will definitely be asking for her again. The staff was also gracious and friendly walked around multiple times asking about the food. You can really tell they take alot of pride in their food and service. We can’t wait to come back and this already became one of our favorite restaurants in St.Louis.

I have been to Canyon Cafe 3 times in 20 years. Now I remember why. We went today at 3:30 when 95% of the tables were empty. Our server at first seemed nice. But his service was not. We were never asked if we wanted drink refills. He never came back after our food came out to ask if it was good. Now let’s talk about the food. Chips were average. Salsa was average. BTW every legit Mexican restaurant I have been to always ask you if you want more chips. They never did ask. My wife got street tacos with shrimp. They came out with fish not shrimp. It was a very long time for the server to come back so we could tell him that her order was wrong. When they finally brought it back, the shrimp was cold. I got the Blackened Mahi Mahi tacos. The rice was cold without any flavor. The Mahi Mahi meat itself was fishy. I have had Mahi Mahi for decades and it has never been fishy especially when it is blackened. Bathrooms are very outdated and dirty. For $66.00, I would rather have gone to Texas Roadhouse. Don’t waste your time at this below average establishment.

I am on a restricted vegan whole food eating plan on medical advice. My order consisted of removing more than half the ingredients from the vegetable fajita entree. The waiter and the chef created a remarkable, delicious dish that helped me enjoy dinner with friends. Thanks again for your kindness and willingness to accommodate me. Canyon Cafe Cares for Customers very graciously.

Service was very poor. Chips and salsa were delivered to our table. After waiting about 10 minutes, I told the hostess our server never came. 20 minutes later, we left. We were thirsty since we never even got any water to drink with our Chips. We have enjoyed this restaurant in the past but will not return anytime soon.
