A family member pointed out this new location while I was in the area. I had been meaning to try the one on the east side of Indy, so this was perfect. ‘Fresh food and a line out the door’ basically sums it up. I enjoyed the creole grilled Caplinger’s Special sandwich with all the toppings and the mac and cheese. The sandwich was very good, but I’d skip the mac and cheese and pick something else. I’ll definitely be back to try some of the other menu items.

We absolutely love coming to Caplinger’s. Their selection and prices are awesome. I went with the salmon dinner and it was perfectly portioned. My partner had the frog legs. They had just the right amount of what we’re assuming is Cajun seasoning. They were massive frog legs as well. I would definitely recommend to anyone who is up for an adventurous and neat dining experience.

I haven’t had anything that isn’t worth eating. Blue crab melt is a must try. Green beans side like grandma used to make. Caplingers special is well worth it too. Get there early since it is so good there is usually a 20-30 minute wait on food. Good stuff

My wife and I went to Caplinger’s for her B-Day dinner. We both were longing for some seafood, and Caplinger’s had rave reviews. I had fried white fish, and my wife had grilled chicken and fish. The light coating on my fish had jalapenos in the batter. I can eat spicy stuff, but this was over-the-top hot. (There was never a mention of spice when we ordered at the counter) Her fish and chicken appeared to be boiled and was served with the fish resting on top of the chicken breast. It was supposed to be grilled but had no grill marks and was sitting in 1/2 inch of water in the basket. Extremely unappetizing. When we got home, we both spent quite a bit of time in the bathroom. Not a good experience and not cheap!

VERY good fish with a large variety and cooking styles (fried, grilled, lemon pepper, blackened, crrole, maybe more). Ranking 4 stars instead of 5 only due to seating area which is shared with other markets. The good thing is that this helps hold the meal price down. A lot of good food for $12 or less. Recommended!

Why Caplinger’s doesn’t have more reviews on here is BEYOND me!! My husband and I first tried this place out a little more than a year ago. You can’t order a bad thing on the menu (my favorites are the smoked tuna salad, the grilled catfish dinner, and the pork tenderloin), and the staff are so incredibly warm and attentive. We just keep coming back and always will as long as they’re around!! Don’t take my word for it – what are you still doing here?? Get over to Caplinger’s!

What a find! We both got the special dinner which is 2 pieces of basa fish, 2 hush puppies, and 2 sides. The fish came fried but the lady who took our order said they can also grill it a couple of different ways. The breading was thin with a nice crisp bite into the tender fish inside. The hush puppies were also good. The other sides we got (corn on the cob, mac n cheese, and Cajun slaw) were all really good. We cannot wait to go back again!

We ate a late lunch around 1400 hrs, the great fish sandwich with the Chipotle slaw & frys. Prep time was short and the food was great. Had a good time and the bakery was a bonus, good job an thanks for a great stop for lunch. Cant wait to come back during fresh vegetable season, were looking forward to the visit.
