Lois Margolet and her brother, Alan, started Capriotti’s in 1976. They lived in Little Italy in Wilmington, Delaware, where sandwich shops were abundant, but Lois had a dream of creating something unique. The shop began as a boarded up building beneath their apartment. They decided to name it after their grandfather, Philip Capriotti, who loved to cook.
They wanted to create a sandwich for “real turkey lovers,” so they started roasting whole fresh turkeys overnight.

Yeah this sandwich wasn’t it. I’ve never been to a Capriotti’s shop before but I’m now not in a hurry to come back. This was one of their Italian Sausage subs and it was one of the messiest subs I’ve ever had in my life, not in a really good way either. Nothing stuck together and every ingredient fell apart as I was eating it. The biggest compliment I can give is that it filled my stomach and the sausage tasted good. Not a cohesive sandwich whatsoever though.

This was literally the best sandwich I’ve ever had. I got the BBQ Chicken sandwich and it was super good. My buddies were hyping this place up like crazy and it exceeded my expectations. Very good sandwich, I will definitely be back for more in the near future.

Well first of all, don’t get it twisted or anything but there’s clearly no manager, if there is management it is at a steep low. Employees clearly don’t want to be there and don’t get a long with each other. Respect for the one that has to tell the other to actually do something. They don’t know the menu, and they messed up the sandwiches. Arguing about who’s making what, and just terrible customer service. As a first time customer definitely will not be returning. Oh and if you did have any food allergies I doubt they would care. Should’ve went with the previous reviews that were recently posted! Also if you want to wait a while for your sandwich go here.

Ordered the 18” Philly cheesesteak sandwich like I normally do when I come to this establishment. There was no meat in the sandwich just onions and mushrooms for a sandwich that’s over $20 there is normally a fair amount of meat in it. Not this time when I drove to the restaurant the kid working there was like it is what it is. Never coming back here again.

Fabulous sandwiches and great salads! Nice, quiet, clean atmosphere. They were really nice to accommodate all our special requests (mixed greens instead of iceberg, no sauce on a sub- requested after we’d already ordered, etc). There was just a few kids working there tonight but I felt like they handled things pretty well. Give me a like if this review was helpful.
