At our Lynchburg, VA location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

My family has been coming to this location since it opened and have always had great service and excellent food. Last week the fish wasn’t cooked all of the way and I didn’t say anything because I was full off of the other items. Tonight there are no words for this slop. $31.00. For slop. Maybe it’s still good during lunch hours. Never again for us.

The service was quick and the food was hot. I ordered the spicy giant fish sandwich; however, I ended up eating one side of the bread as to not have as many calories. Maybe calories shouldn’t have been a factor for a FRIED fast food. The sandwich did have flavor, but needed a little more sauce being that the bread soaked up much of the sauce.

Very nice people work here. Great vibes when you walk in. Very lively. The food was really really good as well. Sometimes you can get a miss with fast food because they’re in a hurry, but this location got it right. I will definitely be back.

My shrimp and clams were fine. My okra and fries however, were soggy. Like they were actually mushy and wet. I asked for extra tartar sauce and d’s sauce but I didn’t get any. My food was delivered to me so I couldn’t even enjoy my catfish feast or appetizers because I had nothing to dip them in. I hate dry food. They did manage to give me butter for my corn and vinegar for my fish but that’s it. The jalapeño bites are my favorite thing to get here but they tasted old. The majority of this meal went into the trash. What a disappointment.

Our Cap D’s closed, so we were thrilled to find this one. Tasty fried fish, shrimp, other seafood, and of course chicken tenders. The sides are good, with fries, broccoli, green beans, or coleslaw included. Or sub a side with Mac n cheese or fried okra. Delicious, though the portion sizes seem to have shrunk over the pandemic. Not sure why.
