At our Newnan, GA location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I hadn’t been to this location in years, after a bad case of food poisoning. I must say that over time, things are certainly much improved. I went for a late lunch because I wanted to try their new menu items. Parking was ample, ( considering there was only one other group dining in). An elderly woman warmly greeted me at the door and took my order. While waiting we engaged in small talk about the previous night’s storm. My order came up shortly and I found a comfortable window seat to dine at. My food was hot and fresh-tasting. Thankfully for me, there was no music playing overhead or tv’s on. It made for a relaxing experience without such distractions. Definitely will be back when that taste for seafood comes calling.

I was really impressed. I haven’t eaten here because I live in Seattle and over 25 years. But it was very good and fresh. And I had the salmon and rice and it was very delicious. My husband and my mother had the catfish, and they really enjoyed it. So thank you, we will be back.

My husband and I visit this location often. It is always consistently great. They have enough staff so you don’t feel guilty for eating there and overworking them. The meal specials are amazing….seniors know it and we show up. The food is hot and fresh and generously portioned. My husband had a baked potato and it was very fresh (he worked his way through college working in restaurants…he knows what an old baked potato smells like). The young lady taking our orders was friendly and smiling. This is a wonderful Captain Ds . Great value. Pleasant experience.

8.14.22 update – very busy today, Sunday at 1pm – service was excellent, food was also excellent. Tried their new spicy battered fish baked potato was fresh. Dining room was busy but clean, never had a problem dining a seat. Specials are priced right, excellent value! Highly recommend! 4.7.2022 update – very quick, food was delivered to our table just as we sat down. Baked potato was fresh, fish was hot… Good experience overall, portions are good and quality is too. Coupons aren’t available right now, so paying full price runs the bill up a little too much. Still, good meal. Restaurant is clean, staffed and well run.

Three staff employees was on their cell phone texting, while customers were in front of them waiting. I place my order and the young lady who waited on me had her ear pod in her ear and still got my order wrong. I was upfront waiting for my number to be called. I observed by hearing my order being worked on and again it came out wrong after correcting it twice.

For fast food, I would put their fish and chips up against sit-down restaurants, as they are that good. Maybe not at the same level as the numerous British pubs I’ve eaten in, but a very, very close second. The fish is nicely fried and not too greasy, and the fries are crispy. Definitely on my “I’m craving fish and chips, but do not want to spend an hour on a meal” list. Also enjoyed the fried okra…

Ordered the Supreme Sampler. It came with two pieces of batter dipped fish, two chicken tenders, and six butterfly shrimp. The chicken tenders were hard and old. The chicken meat was a greenish color. My assumption would be that they did not rotate the food propperly and discard the old after the allotted time.
