A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

Some great fish and breaded shrimp! Lots of parking, the drive up window was packed! With cars going around. I had mine dine in and the service was really quick and the food was fresh and hot. It was more than what I expected for fried food. The Cole slaw was remarkably good. The picture is the fish and chips with a side of shrimp.

I stopped for an early lunch since IHOP was still closed for repairs. I was the first one in as they opened the doors at 10:30. I ordered the 2 piece fish and fries. I got a baked potato instead of the fries. I went ahead and got the 5 butterfly shrimp for an additional $1.99. The fish were so delicious. The batter was light and crunchy. The hush puppies were cooked perfectly. The baked potato seemed like there was a little grit, perhaps they didn’t wash it well enough. I usually like to eat the skin, but not this time. The butterfly shrimp were sweet and crunchy. The atmosphere was pleasant to look at. I noticed that there were multiple trips to the counter by every customer because the butter packets were so tiny that you need at least two for the potato. I requested cocktail sauce for the shrimp, but they forgot to give it to me. The condiment packets look the same, whether it’s tartar sauce or cocktail sauce. It takes five minutes just to open the condiments for the food before you get to eat it. Plus, you have to stop and get your drink before you sit down. If everything was provided other than your drink when you received your food, it would be more of a pleasant experience.

One of the worst experiences I ever had at a Captain D’s. This was my first visit at this Tuscaloosa location, since I was traveling through the area. I was excited to see the array of menu options. They had a very young crew and no one had any type of customer service skills. There were no greetings, no thank you and come again. The women’s bathroom had no tissue or paper towel. The dining room had plenty of seating and tables available but they all had been previously occupied and hadn’t been clean. We cleaned our own table. I purchased the Cajun catfish and it was awful. After the taste of one bite of the catfish I refused to eat any more of it. This restaurant has great potential, and many people were coming by. I do not see how it will last with such poor quality food and customer service.

We were very disappointed with the service we received . My daughter and I went there for lunch … The woman at the register didn’t acknowledge us she was busy running back and forth. Finally she decided to take our order .. She was rude when I asked if they had the Senior Shrimp Special she said no ..When I was about to give my order and employee came to the counter and all the order takers even from the drive thru were too interested in her long green nails … After about 5 minutes she decided to take my order. . Then I noticed one of the drive thru ladies go out to talk to her boyfriend…
