A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. Food was really good. The cashier was very nice and helpful! She recommended a shrimp deal that was much cheaper than what I was originally wanting. So saved me some money!! I got the catfish, popcorn shrimp, seafood gumbo, and fried pickles (yummy), with broccoli and green beans on the side. It was delicious!! I recommend this Captain D’s! They have pretty fast service and good food.

On Aug. 8, 2023 I patronized this establishment (4853 University dr nw) for the first time and was extremely disappointed! I placed a to-go order of what seemed like a good choice. When I opened the bag that my food came in there was a mouse dropping in the bag!! I was so upset and discussed. I called the restaurant and asked if there were any rodent problems and was told yes. I appreciated being told the truth (I must admit). So, I was not able to take the food back for a refund that night because I am not a resident of Alabama and my job hours (driving) had run out. When I WAS able to get back to the restaurant at first the manager said she could not give me my money back, but replace the food. I said NO WAY!!! I then showed my receipt and call logs concerning this manner and how I just wanted my money back and I would not return. I did get a refund with no apology from the second manager. It was disappointing because the food looked like it was going to be good, but I’ll NEVER KNOW! Hopefully, they can get things back in order and more sanitary. Either way they don’t have to worry about me darkening their doorstep NO MORE. I wouldn’t have even been there in the first place if BIG SHAKES had of been open.

Friendly staff, great food made fresh!! Cooked to perfection. Can improve service time. Trays are too old and shaky. Clean sitting area. Well maintained. However smelled gasoline out of no where. Had grilled fish and shrimp good for price! Low on quantity of sides!!

Food took a while so I thought it would be fresh but to my surprise when I got home it was dry and luke warm. The texture was overcooked. And wasnt a good as normal. Couldn’t take it back because they were closed. Went to bed hungry. I spent $45. No one was satisfied.

on several occasions I have gone to this location and placed an order through the drive through. unfortunately I try to move along as quickly as possible so other customers may be serve. only to drive away only to find the order I paid for is missing. I’ve gone home and tried to call to make them aware. no response the day of and even the next day. I go back the next day with receipts only to find this is a repeated problem. Management has changed many times but the problem persist.? Tonight I went back! For product ordered and paid for. They try to give me cold food. I ask that it be fresh and hot. my request was not received well! “She wants it hot!” I state I had to turn around and come back for my order i need some type of compensation because this has happened repeatedly. I have lost time, gas and service. I ask for the manager and was told to pull forward we will be right out. I comply only to be handed a box half open with my ordin the bag! They say no apologies, only it’s hot! I sat there in shock! I say not even a coke for my time and gas. She walked away! Check your bag before you pull away! Sad customer service!

You should just drive up to the window and ask them what they would like you to have cause that’s what you’re gonna get. Asked for green beans got Fries on one order asked for cocktail sauce and vinegar got tartar sauce, cole slaw tasted old asked for half and half tea got unsweetened tea….. so check your orders before you leave.

Tonight was the best service at a fast food restaurant my wife and I have had in along time. The food was great. The front cashier came out to the table check on my wife and I asking did we need refills are any extra Tarter Sauce she even asked did we want to purchase the new cheesecake or piece of pecan pie. And of course we order the pie. But overall the service and attitude of that young lady is better then any place we have ever visited out here. We are looking to come back at least once a week!! Thank you all for everything you all do!!!!
