At our London, KY location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

My husband went through the drive-thru on Sat eve around 6 pm. Not busy at all…which is unusual. I had the fish/chicken meal with fries and slaw. Fish was hot and CRISPY, not real greasy. Tasted good. Chicken was heavily breaded. Crispy. Small sliver of chicken in all that breading. French fries were excellent! Slaw was good! Captain D’s is a good meal choice for fast food. Not cheap though!! 2 meals , no add ons,, no drinks…will run you around $25!

The staff was friendly. The store was clean. The food was hot. A very good restaurant when compared to other Captain D’s restaurants. My party purchased one white fish dinner with fried okra and a loaded potato and a 2 pieces chicken, fish, and shrimp dinner with a loaded potato and green beans.

I love seafood, but I have vertigo. Vertigo is something that hit me while I was sleeping. Trust me, it wasn’t a pleasant wake-up call. The reason I’m putting this out there is because the mercury in seafood activates the crystals in your ears and throws you into a vertigo of hell. But even though I can’t eat seafood, my husband can. So when I’ve had a full day and don’t feel like cooking, I stop at Captain D’s for my wonderful, hard-working husband. I give Captains D’s 5 stars for my family favorite food.

I’ll start off by saying the food itself is solid for a Captain D’s location, which is why I gave two stars instead of one. However, the service I received today was awful. I ordered a fish and shrimp meal, drove all the way home (10 mins. one way), opened it up, and there was no shrimp to be found. I understand mistakes happen, but it was how it was handled that made it much worse. I drove back knowing that my meal would be cold by the time I got to eat it, but I paid for shrimp. They gave me the shrimp with no issue, but they couldn’t even muster up a sorry. “We’re so sorry about that” should have been the bare minimum when your mistake is costing wasted time, gas, and causing your customer to eat a meal that is now 35-40 minutes old. Being at least slightly apologetic goes a long way when you make a mistake that ruins someone’s meal.
