At our Spartanburg, SC location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.
Fast-food chain serving fried fish & shrimp combo meals along with gumbo & funnel cakes. Based on 369 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 3.8 stars. Price $

I was very disappointed in the service. I went through the drive through and nobody answered after a while of waiting in line. The lady in front of me got mad and left. So I went inside to order. The lady running the the registers was very rude. Apparently someone had called in and she wasn’t having it. She told me that someone laid out and she had to run the drive through, cook, and run the registers. That’s when I told her the drive through wasn’t working and she rolled her eyes and literally told me “Oh yeah…. Someone may have just turned that off because we’re swamped with no help.” I counted. There was one couple eating and 3 people including myself waiting on our food. Not cool.

I went through the drive thru this evening and I was impressed on how clean it was. I will not eat at a restaurant that doesn’t keep their grounds clean. I ordered the fish and chicken combo and added a grilled shrimp skewer. I got fries and Cole slaw for the sides and everything was delicious!!!! I will be back…the service was friendly and helpful too.

The fish was great but the shrimp were lacking. It had panko breading and tasteless shrimp. Long John Silvers has much better shrimp. The service was outstanding. They helped me order since I had never been there before and frequently checked everyone in the dining room to make sure you didn’t need anything. Also I had the lobster bisque and it was very good.

I really enjoy eating here with the family. The kids are very picky eaters but they’ll always eat here. The restaurant is always clean and the staff is always polite. It’s not like eating at a fresh seafood restaurant but it’s still very good. The food always comes out in a reasonable time and always hot.

Captain d’s was very good. Much better than Long John Silver. Was our first visit, but we will definitely go back. Be sure to try the Lobster Rolls! White fish and shrimp were very, very good. They do have malt vinegar!!

Although very under-staffed for the huge influx of after-hours church customers, the woman at the counter stayed Very polite, attentive, and got our orders straight. Food was delicious and hot. We will definitely return.

I drove from Greenville to finally try Captain D’s. I waited in the drive thru for 20 minutes but my food was fresh. The fish was good but my hush puppies were soaked in grease and my fries were rock hard and were old. I will give them another try. Maybe something grilled next time.

Fish was greasy. The green beans were the best part but got only a very small portion. None of the sauce dispensers worked except the cocktail sauce. Skeleton crew and very slow service. Way over priced for the quality of service and quantity/quality of food served.
