I was headed some place closer to home but Captain John’s popped up as a suggestion in a search for seafood near me. I decided to give it a shot and I’m happy to have made the choice. The atmosphere for an early Saturday evening was that of a place full of what seemed like regular patrons. That’s always a good sign for me. The staff that greeted us to take our order for takeout was more than accommodating as they proudly announced a couple recent awards the restaurant had recently won. They even entertained requests for things that weren’t necessarily on the menu (you didn’t hear that from me). I ended up getting the fried seafood platter and I can happily say that all was fantastic (even reheated the following day for lunch)!

This place is great. Neighborhood bar feel with a loyal crowd. Food was good and you can’t beat the prices, although a couple of the items our table got were dangerously salty. Highly recommend the baked haddock options and the onion rings are glorious

Been awhile since I had been in there. There had been some changes to the place. The food was excellent! Baked scallops and haddock were absolutely delicious. Along with the fried clams. The staff was very attentive and courteous. We shall be back!

Found this hide away gem by accident while lost. Food was absolutely amazing. Fresh and homemade. The size if the portions at a price that can’t be beat. Somewhere under those awesome onion rings is the biggest fillet of fresh Haddock. Service was fantastic. Would definitely make the 45 min drive in rush hour traffic on 128 just for this. Will definitely be back. Highly recommended.

Based on the reviews we were expecting greatness. Scallops and onion rings were very salty. Fries were substantially under seasoned and the fried haddock was dry (overcooked most likely). My teenage son said frozen fish sticks at home taste better. Major disappointment.

No fancy chain here THANK GOODNESS! Family owned old fashioned neighborhood bar that happens to have some tables to sit and eat AMAZING food!! If your looking for fancy decor, this is not your place. But if you want amazing food you need to stop in here!

Best seafood around! Fresh, great portions, and not pricey. The coleslaw is seasoned wonderfully, their rice is sooo good too! Can’t forget about the rest their menu has to offer, from fresh salads, to homemade onion rings, etc. The owners are always there and make sure the quality is always the very best.
