100/5 stars. The only place to get an amazing sandwich in Torrington and surrounding towns. They also carry some groceries you wouldn’t normally find at the other grocerie stores like himpty dumpty chips, and all kinds of Martins breads. I highly recomend!!

At 12 I used to fly down Highland Ave on my bike in the summer to grab an Italian combo grinder and a soda, and then pick up a pack of smokes for my old man at Value Mart on the way back up the hill. That was over 30 years ago, but they are still there pumping out some of the best grinders around. This place is legendary.

Carbone’s is the sort of place that when you try one of their sandwiches you wish you had been going there for years. The sandwiches are unusual in that not only are they of impressive size they use excellent ingredients. The prices are incredibly fair, the employees are friendly and the line moves along. An event we attended in Colebrook recently ordered a grinder tray for a crowd of maybe fifty from Carbone’s Market. Super stuffed with fillings of turkey, roast beef, tuna, ham and salami along with lettuce and tomato, I haven’t seen sandwiches like this since NYC at any good deli. A half was all anyone needed to be full. The salad with greens, tomato, cucumber, artichoke and ham was also very good and came with dressing on the side. Drop in to their establishment to order a delicious sky high sandwich. Sizes from hard roll to 8″, 12″ and 15″. Carbone’s offers large orders of hot dishes, salads and sides for events, too. Fresh premium meats are also sold here.
