Being a BBQ expert, I knew about Carmen’s for many years and still believe their sausage is some of the bay areas finest. Had to be in the area and couldn’t resist a 3 meat platter. Still as good as ever and it’s good to see a place like this surviving in today’s prices. The platter wasn’t cheap but neither is good meat. And yes it’s worth every penny !! Got the sausage, rib, and brisket with the medium spice sauce. Carmen’s sauce is very old school dark sauce that’s sweet in its own flavorful way…Its very much their own sauce and it’s finfer smacking good.

Came here after a work conference. First off, expensive. A two meat combination plate with a drink will run you nearly $30, and it’s definitely a meal for 1. I got a combination Brisket/Pork Rib, with accompanied potato salad and bread.

I bought the three meat combo along with the potato salad and a large side order of Sweet potato. I had tried their barbecue more than a decade ago and craved one night for it. I was second to the last customer of the day. When I walked in, the guy immediately said, “you’d better be paying cash as Im closing for the night.” Yes i had my cash and placed my order. The potato salad was sour. Had diarrhea, kept me up at night. Meat is ok. I called the following week to let them know. They guy was even proud to say it and dismissed my concern saying no one else had any complaints, they have been in service for years and maybe its your diarrhea. I was a returning customer after so many years, dont you think I know that? Years of service dont matter if youve got one who got sick because of what you served recently. Check yourself again. Hope your years of service got yourself a good education. Terrible customer service. Overpriced for stale food.

Best BBQ in California hands down. Can’t beat a 50 year old family recipe. Support small family owned businesses! Customer service is impeccable! Thanks Sean!

Love carmens barbeque. I live in fremont and used to go the the site on fremont blvd. Shot out to robert who used to run that site. Now that they are closed i go to the hayward site. Its a little drive but it is well worth it. Keep doing what you are doing. Mike preister

Always the best barbecue around. They serve their slow cooked brisket and ribs with some really delicious sauce that comes in mild to hot. The links are fresh and full of flavor. I have to get some cornbread and banana pudding to make my meal complete. Carmen truly treats u like family and they have restaurants in San Leandro and Fremont.
