About Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria
Considered the oldest family name in Chicago pizza, Lou Malnati’s is as rich in history as its pizza is in flavor.
Lou Malnati got his start in the 1940’s working in Chicago’s first deep dish pizzeria. He took his pizza expertise to Lincolnwood, a northern suburb of Chicago, where he and his wife Jean opened the first Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria on March 17, 1971. Lou was known for his fun-loving character as well as making Chicago’s best pizza. Loyal patrons lined the streets on opening day for a taste of his delicious deep dish creations. Lou always thought it was funny that an Italian should open a pizzeria in a Jewish neighborhood on an Irish holiday.

Lou’s pizza is always great, but it tastes better to me when I get it from this location. I think they might add slightly more sauce than some locations and add more butter to the buttercrust if you get that option.

EXCELLENT Chicago style pizza!! This was our 1st time visiting Chicago and we had to have their famous pizza. The pizza was hot, ingredients were fresh, and it had just the right amount of cheese and sauce. The dough was cooked perfectly. We ordered online and it was ready at the exact time we said we would pick it up.

Pizza was over cooked and the thin crust must have been sitting for a long time as I ordered it uncut the bottom was still flimsy. I usually go to another Lou’s and have never had such a bad pizza! The cheese bread was cold and had the indentations from the marinara container. 0 stars if I could.

After my family has been going to this location for years, I think tonight my Dad and I received probably some of the worst customer service that we have ever experienced.

Ok. This review is waaaay late. We live in Wheaton and have ordered a TON of pizzas from here for almost 20 years. I’ve always been impressed with the delivery from this Carol Steam location. Prompt! Fast! Polite! (Our tips reflect that, I hope!) And, during the pandemic, the delivery folks were MORE than awesome! Thank you!

Normally, no complaints. But, today, I feel like we got shorted some sausage on our deep dish out of the box. Usually, it’s crust to crust. Is this the new normal now? 3 stars overall. 5 stars on service , 1 star on product.

I know they’re known best for deep-dish, but you would think they’d be able to deliver a thin-crust pizza that was fully-cooked. The last several times I’ve ordered, I’ve had to specify well-done so that the middle wasn’t falling apart. But tonight, ordering well-done wasn’t enough. Even the outer part of the crust was soft. Crust matters! Enough to make me go elsewhere for thin-crust, if they don’t care enough about it.

We were given the exact time the pickup would be ready. I arrived on time and a host took my name and brought it right out to my car. Hot and ready to eat.

Nothing exotic here. It’s a pizza joint in need of a face-lift. Very busy and popular. Ordered online. Med thin crust The Lou, minus cheddar, Italian sausage added on. Picked it up. Got home. It had cheddar on it. Not the best. Not the worst.
