Casa Rio’s menu boasts a wide selection of Mexican dishes that tantalize the taste buds. The dishes were expertly prepared, showcasing fresh ingredients and the chef’s attention to detail. I particularly enjoyed the rich and savory flavors of the enchiladas and soft tacos, complemented by the perfect balance of spices and seasonings.

I dined here on a Sunday afternoon. When I “checked in” they asked if I wanted to eat indoors or out. Considering it was hovering around 100 degrees outdoors I chose indoors. I was told to wait 20-30 minutes as opposed to being seated immediately outdoors. I still chose indoors so they took my phone number to text me. After about 7-8 minutes they texted me and I went inside to see no less than 10 empty tables just on the one side. For whatever reason they don’t want to seat a single person inside.

Really tasty Tex-Mex right on the river in downtown San Antonio! We were serviced promptly and got our food really quick. Once we were completed with our meal our service took a while to make his way back around to us to provide us the check, but overall we loved the atmosphere, the staff, and the food.

San Antonio Riverwalk is a scenic area to stroll around despite the daily 37°C sweltering Texas heat. So many choices yet Casa Rio is the oldest restaurant along the river having been open since 1946. It’s quite popular too as the wait time provided by the hostess was 40 minutes! Fortunately it took only 10 minutes for their online system to text me back that my seating was ready. Go high, aim low?

First timer at The Riverwalk. We were seated within minutes and service was great. Food portions were on the smaller side for the price but definitely delicious. Skinny margarita was smooth and strong. Stroller friendly and bathrooms were clean.

We had the chips and “salsa” before our meal. The salsa was weak chunky tomatoe juice, no heat at all.

The food is good and the location is impeccable. Quite honestly the main reason I came here was because this was the oldest restaurant on the riverwalk and the rainbow umbrellas are what I always see on San Antonio postcards. Now I can say I’ve eaten at the post card place.
