Casa Susanna is Chef Efrén Hernández’s take on Mexican cuisine sourcing his family history and the abundance of the Hudson Valley. Through our masa program we make all of our tortillas in-house and offer a regularly changing seasonal menu of dishes with the best ingredients from local farmers, ranchers and fishermen. Our version of modern Mexican food is made with sharing in mind so please order for the table, get lots of tortillas, and taste different dishes!

So many times the hype doesn’t live up to the experience, but last nights meal exceeded our expectations, and that is something that hasn’t happened in a long time. We were delighted to find a restaurant that takes its program seriously, while still feeling warm, expressive and welcoming. The flavors ranged from subtle and complex to explosive and rich; creating a perfect harmonious palette. The space had a comfortable, laid back, but elevated feel with amazing terracotta earthenware. The handmade place settings were used to great effect with the expert plating of each dish, and drink. Such a happy evening with friends right in our amazing backyard of the Catskills! A big thanks to the chef, our server, and the rest of the entire staff at Casa Susanna for a fabulous summer evening!

Great food and service! We ordered a few items for brunch here since it was our first time. It didn’t disappoint. Everything exceeded our expectations and tasted amazing. I’m particular the blood sausage tamal and smoked queso fresco enmoladas stood out the most. There’s a peanut mole sauce on the enmoladas and the tamal was great with the pickled chayote. The salsa mortia with the tetela was quite spicy but good. My wife had a michelada which she liked a lot. The other cocktails looked great too. The service was exceptional too, they were constantly attentive. We’re definitely looking forward to coming back for dinner!

We enjoyed this top notch Oaxacan style Mexican spot in the Catskills. A hip albeit family leaning vibe with dishes that delight and flavors that differ from the upstate new American norm (atmosphere rating based on eating outdoors). The standout dish we tried was the duck leg confit, to us it’s a must try! Everything else we enjoyed but didn’t move us nearly as much as that. Service was great. Attentive and accommodating, with solid food + drink recommendations. It’s a great addition to the upstate food scene and definitely worth a visit!

I had the pleasure of having brunch at this weekend’s opening of Casa Susanna. What a divine experience. It’s clear this place has been lovingly and carefully appointed and curated. (Custom furniture yet still maintains that vintage vibe). The food and drink were delicious. We shared the Chilaquiles, Smoked Queso Fresco Enmoladas, Pozole and Concha. Everything was delicious! The Chilaquiles de Cochinita Pibil were fantastic! The craft drinks were so tasty. My favorites were the Elote Sour and Casa Michelada. Highly recommend. This whole place is impressive!
