Came here for the nostalgia. Saw it on diners driveins and dives twice. The owner is very nice. Had the charbroiled oysters, fried crab claws, and a local strawberry beer. Crab claws were good. They make them in a old pot and fry to perfection. The oysters were fresh, however i would recommend they use more butter and garlic and less cheese. Great spot on magazine street to eat. SPOILER ALERT: CASH ONLY

We shared a whole dressed fried oyster loaf. It’s a bit of a mess to eat. I much prefer a po-boy on French bread. Old-school, cash only establishment that looks like it hasn’t been updated since the day they opened. You have to walk through the kitchen to get to the bathrooms, and trust me, you don’t want to see how the sausage gets made. Still it was tasty, though it was skimpy on the oysters. The service was friendly but highly disorganized and slow. Wouldn’t recommend.

This is a renown institution. Open only 4 months out of the year. When you go to New Orleans, this is where everyone needs to go FIRST. The oysters are fresh, plenty of delicious food and seafood option, iconic floors that stood the test of time since 1919, great locals gathering together, and not to mention the amazing family that runs it. The staff is friendly and really personable. Its the most amazing experience of New Orleans that one will have when dining there. Remember to bring cash as it is cash only.

Absolutely enjoyed every dish we ordered. The service is excellent. The oysters are sooooo good. The gumbo is rich and flavorful. The crab claws were hot and fried perfectly. We also had 1/2 shrimp loaf and spaghetti w/meatballs. Sorry for no pics of the loaf or spaghetti. Everyone was really nice.

Talk about nostalgia!! This place was so cool, and pretty much seemed unchanged from when it opened 100 years ago. A very seafood/oyster focused restaurant. It’s family owned and you can read about the family on the website. We were served by one of the twin daughters who helps her parents run the place. My boyfriend is an oyster lover and this is where he wanted to have them in NOLA. It was so cool to see the shuckers at work right in the front room, and man are they big oysters!! Make sure to bring plenty of cash!

Amazing New Orleans experience. Don’t look for fancy. They have not updated the decor (or the Cash Register) in about a hundred years. No need to change any of their recipes either as their food is consistently delicious. The char grilled oysters are the best you’ll find anywhere. You can even get that garlic/butter/Parmesan sauce on the fries. Now that’s decadent! A great family run business, too! Only downside is that they’re only open for half the year and only take Cash.

Nice stop for a bite. Great oysters cold and cleaned. The evenings walking around are very nice. The tram is fun to ride and explore many non tourist areas. The main strip can get crowded at times and pay attention to pick pockets. There are many great food stops along the way but this one is a super first or last stop in this city.
