Almost thirty years ago, a friend made Ghormeh Sabzi for her family and me. It is a traditional Persian dish and one of her husband’s favorites from his homeland. I’ve never forgotten the unique blend of beef and spices over rice, but I’d also never found it again. Today, though, another friend and I happened upon the Caspian Grill Persian Bistro on Frankfort Avenue and they serve it! They call it “beef stew” but I knew immediately from the description of the spices that it was the same meal, and the chef confirmed that. Of course, I ordered it, and it was just as unique, flavorful, and filling as I remembered from almost three decades ago. I’m delighted to have found a place for this occasional favorite treat! My friend had the chicken kabob and absolutely loved it, and I can’t wait to bring my husband by for the salmon – I think he’ll be really pleased, too. The bistro is a hybrid between counter service and table service, at least during lunch time, and the atmosphere is not fancy. However, the food is fresh and delicious and reasonably priced – I can’t ask for more than that! Portions are more than reasonably sized – I had enough Ghormeh Sabzi left for evening snacking but probably not for an entire dinner. In all, a delicious, pleasurable lunch – we will be back!

Happy for the return of a favorite! Every time we have gotten food from here it’s fresh and tastes wonderful. Places like Caspian Grill and the owner working here are what make our community more like home.

Friend recommended this place. We ate there. Cozy place and doesn’t appear like much. Food was good, but I’ve had better. It is healthy food and made locally. Burgers are never frozen and made fresh each day.

One of my favorite local restaurants! If you like seafood, the salmon kebob is a must-try. It is so delicious, and the shirazi salad is very fresh and tasty. Highly recommend!

I love this little place! I was so glad he was able to reopen after a fire. Great spot for lunch and I haven’t had a bad thing off the menu. I tend to gravitate to the gyros, but am always happy when I choose something different. Never disappoints.

Staying in town for a couple days, found this spot and got the Chicken Kabob. The chicken was cooked perfectly.

Taste pretty authentic. I got the steak kebab. Since it’s probably a family-run business, had to wait longer.

Tale of two dishes: chicken kabob is great- “chicken” gyro has some kind of meat (guy at register assures it’s chicken) that was inedible and did not look like any chicken I’d ever seen. See pictures of chicken comparison.

Love this place. My boyfriend and I used to go there alot and then they closed for remodel. They have now opened and its really nice and the man who owns it is to. Great food. I get the burger and my boyfriend gets the burger and the gyros and salad. Not a fancy place we usually sit outside and people and dog watch on Frankfort Ave.
