The place is so charming, and the hospitality is over the top! The food tastes delicious, we can’t even pick a favorite dish because everything is great. It’s such a treat to dine at this restaurant. Probably my favorite spot in all of Milwaukee now.

We had a lovely dinner in this intimate Latin-American gem. Chef Ana greeted us at our table after our meal to make sure every dish was perfect, which it was. She and her staff created an amazing experience and we all highly recommend it. Get reservations early as there are few tables and they fill up.

We cannot say enough great things about this amazing hidden gem of a restaurant. The food is outstanding- incredibly presented, prepared and served. Every taste of every plate we have had (and we have had many as well as many repeats) is as if fireworks of amazing flavor explode in your mouth. From the time you walk through the front door Owner/ChefAnna (who is a cooking genius in her own right) greets you with a big smile and an “Hola” and makes everyone feel like she has invited you into her own home and kitchen and connects with you throughout your dining visit. She is a gracious host and she pays attention to every little detail so that you have the very best dining experience possible. She loves what she does and she’s a marvel. We have been to Cavas many times and each experience we feel like we are treated as if we are the only table in the restaurant. Chef Anna and staff are superb! We have taken guests from many cities and states when they come to visit and they cannot wait until their next visit to go back. Definitely 5 stars and more). Please don’t walk, please run to this outstanding dining gem in Milwaukee. You will be so happy you did.

Absolutely phenomenal. Make a reservation unless you’re going right when they open at 5 which is what we did on a Thursday, and the place was completely full by 6. Everything we ate (ESPECIALLY the empanadas) were amazing and everyone we met was wonderful. Chef Ana is so kind and sweet!

What was a promising start – with delicious empanadas – descended into a disappointing, bland, overpriced waste. I’ve traveled through Spain and have eaten authentic Paella in Valencia, tortilla throughout, and various dishes in Barcelona, Girona, Madrid, Donostia, et al and I was extremely disappointed and a bit angry at the food (at exorbitant prices) at Cavas. The paella had the wrong type of rice (if I can procure bomba and calasparra at the local Sendiks, they can too – and for $32, they should), the Matambre Argentino was a sad, gray, overcooked, and under seasoned teeny piece of $28 meat (and, given the size, we didn’t even finish it because it was so tasteless and bland), there was nothing special about the $22 Cazuela with 4 pieces of shrimp and 4 mussels, the Torta Española’s ratio of potatoes to egg was off in the wrong way (btw, Area Grande Restaurante in Pontevedra has the best I’ve tasted so far); and lastly, the $9 chocolate mousse was incredibly subpar, it just made me so sad (I just made a beautiful mousse last week). Overall, for what you get with the price (our total bill was $194 before tip), you’re better off going to Movida.

Cavas was such a great experience. I got the Pato a la naranja (duck and potatoes). This was my first time trying duck and I was not disappointed at all. My food was HOT. Literally fresh out the oven which I appreciated. My good was seasoned well and the duck was juicy and tender. My potatoes were some of the best potatoes I’ve tried. I wish I had a bigger portion size! The service was exceptional as well. I will definitely be back to try some of their other unique dishes.

They were hopping in there but they sat us right away. We were at the bar so we were able to talk to the chef while she worked. Such a hard working lady, doing a fantastic job. The staff was wonderful and the food was to die for! The hongas a la pepe for tapas and it was amazing! Highly recommended. If you set a reservation, the hard working staff will thank you

Chef Ana and the staff of Cavas are amazing. You feel like family and eat like it too. No better paella in the city (or state, tbh.)
