I came here for lunch and ate in their lounge/bar. I love caviar so I wanted to stop here while in NYC. It was fun to directly compare some of the different types and see which I liked best. We started with the classic caviar service which included 25g each of classic osetra, siberian sturgeon, and pacific sturgeon. My favorite was the osetra.

No playful pun, no name-check for grandma—whoever christened this restaurant clearly wanted to attract a certain clientele. This is not the place where you should order by pointing vaguely at the menu—that way lies trouble as you may have to remortgage your home to pay for the 250 grams of Osetra caviar you’ve just inadvertently requested. Diners, however, will be pleased to discover they also offer more affordable options, like the Pacific sturgeon.

Caviar Russe has earned a customer for life with me; our experience was nothing short of perfection. We came in for caviar, as it’s very hard to find in our area, and we wanted to treat ourselves. Everything was beautifully presented, and we never waited for a drink or had less than 3/4 glass of water. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and has such a classy feel. We will continue to return when in NYC.

There are many caviar options. The service is good and quick. However, the food is all too salty here, especially the smoked salmon. I recommend the scallop hand roll and the foie gras torchon(so smooth). I won’t go there again, if I go there again, I will only order Foie gras torchon again.

Caviar Russe has become one of the top high end restaurants to dine at in the entire city. There is certainly no better place to go if your a caviar lover. I’ve eaten here a handful of times over the years and feel that the experience has gotten better each time. The room is beautiful, the service is impeccable, and the food is outstanding. Also Caviar Russe has just taken space on the first floor that is a little more casual than the second floor dining room. I look forward to trying downstairs next time. In any event this restaurant is highly recommended and a must try!
