We were at a basketball camp at Belmont and decided to walk across to Chago’s between games. I’m glad we did. The atmosphere was casual but upscale. The service was good. The food was great. The flavors were fresh and layered. Pictures include the bang bang shrimp taco, Mexican street corn, black beans, rice, and pork belly tacos. If you like tacos this is the place. ❤️

Ok here is the deal. I had Bartaco the week before and that place was EXCELLENT!! I decided to try Chago’s which is a couple blocks away. The difference is quality is SIGNIFICANT. The food at Chago’s is OK AT BEST. I wouldn’t come back if I was invited for free. The best thing there is the chips for the dip. The freshness isn’t there either. The dips tasted like they were store bought. The only one that tasted ok was the guacamole. The pork belly, chorizo, brisket, and carnita tacos were not good. My wife said the bang bang shrimp and the baja fish were good. Therefore, i wanted to give two stars but the price of the tacos brought it down to one star. I am telling you GO TO BARTACO INSTEAD. Its only a couple blocks away. You will see the difference in the love and energy they put into their food AND drinks.

Went to this place because the bagel place was jam packed. I had the vegetarian fajitas and the portion was super generous. The salsa and chips were awesome and the salsa had a lot of flavor and wasn’t too spicy. More flavor than spice which is how I like it. We ordered guacamole as well and that was made to perfection. Perfectly seasoned and the texture was just right. Give this place a try for sure.

We were at Chago’s for Taco Week.the special was a taco filled with thick chunks of tender smoked brisket topped with a corn salsa. It was a smokey, spicy bite and cooled by the sweet corn. The house margaritas were tall and strong. It was a pleasant lunch eating amazing in the lovely, historic neighborhood by Belmont University. I look forward to returning.

The salsa sampler is a great deal and love the variety. The margaritas are also pretty good. The carne asada tacos were solid. The burger was decent but would definitely stick to the Mexican food next time.

Now I will admit that I came for taco week, so they had special pricing of $2/ taco for the pork belly taco, but man was it worth it. The honey chili sauce paired with the saltines of the pork, although not overpowering, was a beautiful symphony flavors on my palate. Added bonus, I came during Happy hour, so the house margaritas were only $4…had a terrific lunch for only $10…I will be returning again, and soon.

Will definitely be back again for my tex mex fix! Wait staff is friendly. The house margaritas were delicious and strong. Street parking available. Reasonably priced and not a long wait for a Friday night. All silverware is prepackaged and the margs came in plastic bottles with option to pour over ice.
