In 1951 Charlie and his wife, Elizabeth Betty Streu started a grocery store and filling station at the end of Michigan Ave. The business was called Char-Bett Food Shop. The business flourished and outgrew the building, and in 1958 they decided to start a drive in restaurant, later known as Char-Bett Drive In. Charlie and Betty owned and operated Char-Bett until 1978.

Stopped by on a whim. Service was EXCELLENT. We pulled in to the furthest spot away from the building (parking lot was almost full) and were going to walk to the window to order. Before we were two feet away from our truck a very nice young woman was already there to take our order! We each ordered a cheeseburger with a side of fries and the corn nuggets. Fries were awesome! My other half enjoyed the corn nuggets (they were a little sweet for me). Burgers were awesome! My only complaint was they used Miracle Whip instead of mayo, but that’s just my personal preference! Definitely recommend stopping to anyone craving some classic diner/drive-in food!

Stopped in for lunch at work after the first couple places we’d tried were closed. Not at all disappointed. Great food, great service, and they paid special attention to all my special requests for my order. The burger was quite large, and the onion rings were some of the best I’ve had!

It brings back the old fashioned car hop experience, you are quickly greeted with a smiling car hop who is very informative and helpful. The menu is quite large and the options are vast for ice cream so take your time and check it thoroughly, anything you do order will be very good and within reason for pricing as well. The ice cream is very good quality as well as generous servings, do yourself a favor and stop in on a hot summer day and get some lunch and ice cream!

I’m from out of state and passed by here and decided to grab lunch. There were lovely picnic tables outside with umbrellas, our waitress was SO friendly and nice (a young red headed lady). The food was delicious and got to us very quickly. Highly, highly recommend!

We looked at menu for about 5 mins I ordered a Shrimp basket: 14 breaded Shrimp, french fries and a drink. And my husband Greg Brown ordered a Double cheeseburger basket: dbl cheeseburger, french fries, and a drink. Total was like $20+ tax. While we waited for food we sat and did our scratch off tickets. It was really a good night weatherwise…. Please tip the waitresses accordingly…. Love the black raspberry ice cream is really great. It’s one of m6 favorites

Great rich creamy ice cream. Really uniques flavors such as root beer float, orange pineapple, rich butter pecan and love their cinnamon ice cream. They have very tasty freshly made onion rings. Still have traditional car hop that came out in pouring rain in a raincoat to take our order. Nice picnic tables under a canopy to enjoy ice cream. Large portions. My must go to in the summer when going to Logansport.
