I’ve been coming here ever since I was a little kid and I still love it just the same! The atmosphere is so cozy, like many other reviewers said it feels like you are eating in your grandparents house. Also the fried chicken basket is always a must!

Unique “old reliables” on the menu like franks and beans, Bloody Marys, to my choice of the plant based beyond burger, which was delicious. The onion rings were crispy and not greasy in the slightest. The fried chicken was equally plentiful, well seasoned and not greasy. The restaurant is very clean and the throw back decor charming. Would definitely visit again on my next trip through town.

When you walk in the door at Charcoal Chef in Woodbury, CT, it feels like you have entered your grandma’s cozy and homey dining room; the service is friendly and sweet, almost like your grandma or aunt were serving you.

I ordered a Barbecue Burger for $9, given the fact that burger wasn’t too expensive i figured it was small so I asked for two patty’s on my burger. (they are 4oz each) She charged my the price of a whole other burger for the patty. basically a 9 dollar patty. and an 18 dollar burger. I asked her about it and her logic was flawed, why wouldn’t I just buy two burgers if I wanted to spend 18 dollars??? it should be maybe 3-5 dollars for another patty. it’s ridiculous

Delicious, classic menu. Cozy restaurant with friendly staff. I took my gf here. She has lived a long life of eating chicken hearts, chicken feet, and gizzards and, now, I want her to enjoy the finer things in life. Today, she learned what a cornish hen is and she enjoyed it with ketchup. Charcoal chef makes one of the best shirley temples, baked potatoes, and more. This place is a time capsule and I can’t wait to go back. If anyone knows how I can buy the dracula mansion across the street, let me know.

Always have been a fan of this restaurant, until our most recent visit. Went for dinner and it was not overly busy, but was ignored for a least 20min before a drink order was even taken. I did notice I did not recognize staff any of the staff, so that may have been the problem. Hopefully, it was a one time bad nite, as we always enjoyed going there.
