Great little place…step back into time. Very accommodating with the no bun option too! You must try the ice cream sandwiches are made with FRESH baked cookies!! Family owned. Great friendly staff. We enjoyed our meal and visiting!

2 stars only cause the menu is mostly cheap and the place is cool, but that’s about it. Incredibly overrated, for the hype that this place has, I was shockingly disappointed. The food is comparable to that of a school cafeteria. They don’t have lettuce and tomatoes, only cheese, pickles and diced onions and don’t even serve Coca-Cola in glass bottles like you would expect at a place like this. They also have very limited hours for a place that I would expect to be open in the evenings. I hardly ever see them open.

We were out exploring LaGrange and came across this iconic eating establishment. Being that we love hot dogs and it was lunchtime it was perfect timing. They have outside window orders , counter front and narrow dining tables inside. 2 doors to get down either side. We sat at the counter seats, menu right in front of you, quick and friendly service. They were pumping out boiled dogs on steamed buns and steamed burgers. We were later informed at the brewery down the street (Wild Leap) the grilled chicken sandwich is also the bomb…..next time. Anyway I had a chile dog, double onions and a line of mustard made perfectly, bag of chips and a Coke. The wife had a chile dog, chip and a Coke. I enjoyed it and the atmosphere so much I had another chile dog.. We prefer these types of establishments to the chains anyway!

Wow, what an experience! It’s too bad these types of places are disappearing, because they have so much character. We were able to find a seat at the counter and our order was quickly taken on a notepad. I got a cheeseburger and chili dog with onions. My wife got a chili dog with onions and slaw dog and we both got chips and a drink. It was fun to watch them steam the hotdogs and cheeseburgers to order and you can tell this place is loved. A true hidden gem if you’re in LaGrange.

Lots of people here on arrival ordering at the sidewalk window. Many sharing that they are regulars aa they enjoy the price point, speed and hot dogs. We ordered hot dogs and they seemed standard. I tired the burger made fresh but not a recommendation. There is limited seating inside and some behind the building.

Today we enjoyed a LaGrange, Georgia, classic. We found ourselves in the charming small town at lunch and decided to give it a try. Opened since 1920, yes 1920, locals have enjoyed many a hot dog and hamburger at this downtown location less than a block from the beautiful town square (with a beautiful fountain). I had a cheeseburger while my husband enjoyed two chili dogs. You can add a bag of chips (fries are not available). The menu is pretty diverse. The homage to Coca-Cola covers the walls. Among the decor of signs of all kinds, my husband spotted a sign for a Lemon Sour and prices for the various sizes. I inquired with the man who appeared to be in charge. He explained the elixirs content. Then he added, “want to try some – if I can watch your face.” Let’s just say…it has a kick. Definitely worth a stop. And, if you can’t find a stool or a seat – they have walk-up windows on the sidewalk.

CJ’s is a must try when you visit LaGrange. They are family owned and the food/service is on point with the cozy, laid back, down-home atmosphere. This location on Bull St is small with stools at the counter and a few small 2 person tables lining the wall. They offer carry out and it is worth the trip. They have another location on West Point Rd that offers more seating and a drive thru. I highly recommend this restaurant. I hope they continue to serve LaGrange as a locally owned and operated business. I believe we are losing these kinds of places due to the economy and we need these special places to help remind us of where we came from and the importance of community. So, if you are in need of an easy stress-free stop for a simple hotdog or hamburger to escape the hustle I suggest the slaw dog and a large sweet tea

Such a gem to find! We actually found out about this place from a former employee who works at Johnny’s! So glad she shared and happy we went looking for it. It’s about 40 minutes away from where we live, but it was worth the drive to discover it. Very old school, nostalgic, tiny little place in Old Town…I’m in love! Had the Slaw Dog (coulda ate 2) and also ordered a Cheeseburger (next time we will do a double!) Friendly folks working there, very attentive to your needs and prices are decent. I guess we looked at an older menu online, cuz the prices had gone up, but still very reasonable! We WILL BE BACK

Cool place, friendly staff, food was bland (I’m not a picky eater by any means). If you like boiled hotdogs and grey meat burgers then you’ll enjoy it.
