Charlie’s has been around as long as I can remember & has always been my go to restaurant for great, fast & reasonably priced seafood. I was very disappointed this time around! The service was good & the food came out fast but the taste wasn’t very good! I ordered a scallop basket & a 20oz drink & it came to almost $27! The scallops were small & tasteless. I think they changed the batter or something?! The coleslaw tasted like straight vinegar but the fries were good. The only time I have seafood is when I order it at a restaurant because I’m not good at cooking it so it is something I really appreciate eating! I don’t know what’s going on at Charlie’s but unfortunately they have lost a long time & loyal customer. I will not eat there again. ☹️

Easy to get to Charle’s from Salem and parking is next door. The sea food is fresh and lightly battered…. just perfect…. not greasy or heavy. I recommend the jumbo ship platter and the seafood platter.

I find it way to expensive for no frills cooking or location but everytime I go I am never disappointed. It is just not a place you can afford monthly. But, I swear their crinkle fries are the best fries in all of the Northshore. All the seafood tastes fresh and the batter recipe hasn’t changed.. And better not change for who knows how many decades. It is still my local go to spot for fried seafood.
