I think this is a nice, chill spot to grab some food. It definitely feels more local. It was really nice to see so many people come in and be greeted by their first name. We were visiting from out of town and stopped here for lunch before a fishing trip. The debris fries were one of the best things I’ve had while in town. We were both surprised by how good they were. He had a good po boy, and I had a good club.

My first visit I sat at the bar. I had great service. I ordered a breakfast of eggs & grits and a waffle. It was made to order & fresh and delicious. My second visit I brought my children and got to try the pecan crusted chicken tenders and waffle. What a treat! If you want a good deep South feel when you’re visiting New Orleans step outside the city for a bit and come here.

The food was very good! We had a shrimp poboy, shrimp dinner, two hamburger steaks, spaghetti (creole red Italian gravy), cheeseburger, side salads and two massive orders of onion rings. The place is really worth checking out.

Once we get out of the French Quarter, hubby and I often make wrong turns and ‘wind up lost’..Disoriented and hungry, we decided to just pull up, at the first place that looked good. And there on St. Bernard Highway was Charlie’s. All I can say is ‘wow’. Great food, wonderful homey vibe, sweet waitress, monster portions of food, cooked to perfection and tasty as all get out. Though we found this place by accident, it’s a bet we’ll be coming back!! Yum.

The food here was great. Our server was very attentive and helpful with her suggestions. The seafood platter is worth the price. The crab was amazing. We tried the alligator sausage and it was very tasty. I could see myself ordering that in the future. We went here on the recommendation from a fishing buddy. Glad we took the advice!

It’s Saturday night and they’re not busy. After 30 minutes, I had to ask somebody to take our order. It took 2 hours to get Spaghetti, Fried Catfish, burnt Garlic bread, and overdone fried Veal cutlets. We’re still waiting on grandma’s “Take Home” order. Definitely not Rocky & Carlos. PS: they do not have a children’s menu.
