We absolutely LOVED this place. Everyone was so kind and the food was phenomenal. The winery nearby also has an excellent selection of wine that you can buy a glass or bottle from.

The food was pretty good, but the service was terrible. We had a reservation at 7:30, and were seated by 7:45 – which was fine. We received our food by 8:15 and finished eating by 8:30. We never saw our waiter after the meal was dropped off, he never once checked on us. My wife wanted to order a second glass of wine and hopefully dessert. After sitting at our table outside for 35 minutes after we had finished eating, we decided to leave. No one had checked on us to ask how the food was, or if we needed anything else, or if we would like our check. We found all 3 of the waitstaff counting tips, closing checks, and chatting together at the front desk. We drove from Roanoke and this was our first experience here. Hopefully this was a very unusual, off night. We didn’t feel valued at all.

Today was my first visit to Chateau Morrisette, my spouse has been to the Winery and Restaurant several times, but it actually has been 10 years since he had dined at the restaurant.

Chateaux Morrisette was our go to place for special occasions, so we were sad when the restaurant did not reopen right away after COVID. However, the wait was worth it! The food was excellent, the service wonderful, and the atmosphere awesome as always. It is worth the drive!

This review is for the restaurants lunch menu. When Morrisette built their new winery building next door, this opened up the entire original mountain top location they shared to a full service eatery. Probably a good thing as well. The place was packed on the Saturday we visited. It was a beautiful day for a mountain drive to be fair though, so this may not be the norm.

Chateau Morrisette has been a favorite place for years. We last visited the restaurant in November 2019, before Covid shut the world down. Our party of 10 had a delightful time and the food was excellent. We were so excited to hear the restaurant has reopened and called on Tuesday, July 25 for reservations for our group of 10 for lunch on August 12. We were given a reservation for 1:00. Family traveling from Charlotte, Richmond and Martinsville were anticipating a wonderful time. Today, July 29, I received a call stating they had overbooked! Oops! Don’t know how far ahead one needs to call or how close to the planned date they will call to cancel. There seems to be a lack of communication somewhere. Very disappointed.

Fantastic view of mountains and good food. Only reason not 5 star is prices are a bit high. Love the wines.

Excellent lunch with my wife which we would actually rate probably a 4.5. After hiking nearby, I had shrimp and grits and my wife had the soup and smoked trout salad. All was really good bit not quite great. The grits were a little underdone and the dish seemed slightly small. Soup was very good along with the salad. Overall a very enjoyable meal up in the mountains

Chateau Morrisette is all around a great restaurant. Starting with the excellent staff, to the majestic views, the wonderful cuisine, and of course, the fantastic wine, everything was a delight. The cheeseboard included a locally produced cheese that had a delightful taste and texture somewhere between brie and aged cheddar. The housemade preserve and pickled grape accoutrements were very nice. For the entrees, the Heritage Pork Chop served with grilled red cabbage, smashed peas, and pureed carrot was delicous. The Duck Leg Confit a’la Orange was also excellent. For desert, the panna cotta with preserved cherries was delightful. The orange cream sorbet was also very tasty. The staff was very friendly, prompt and professional from start to finish. In summary, our experience was everything that we would expect from a solid 5-star restaurant.
