Small so get there when they open at five. Seems like the regulars are favored over the newbies. Our onion rings were served to people that came in 10 minutes after us and their server seemed to know them.

The BEST hashbrowns!!! Very good, tender Steak DeBurgo. Shrimp Scampi is good, but a little bland compared to other places. But the BEST sandwich is the Beaverdale Brick…a good sized hamburger patty with bacon, cheese and a fried egg, but there is no traditional bun. Instead you get two, that’s right, TWO grilled cheese sandwiches that replace the bun. Absolutely incredible burger. They also have an extensive bar and knowledgeable bartenders who whip up some fun seasonal cocktails. The wait staff is awesome. Very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, this wonderful dining establishment is closing at the end of the year. I would highly suggest a visit before then. You won’t be disappointed.

Always always always great food and wonderful service. Grew up working and eating here and will continue so! Heavy to light foods, as well as vegetarian options. Their specials are always phenomenal, hash browns are never a wrong thing to order alongside any meal you choose, perfect clam chowder, and the breakfast is by far the best in town. For a date, with friends and family, or enjoying a meal alone you’ll always score some great food here.

Many of the best affordable restaurants leave one saying, “Wow, what a decent meal for the price.” Not here. The food is some of the best in Des Moines, and the reasonable prices for generous portions don’t occur to you until the comfortable bill arrives. The rest of the meal is occupied with the excellent cuisine. Further, the service is extraordinary.

The waiter we had was really friendly and helpful but unfortunately the food was not as good. The order of onion rings we got was room temperature, obviously they were sitting out a while before it got to us. On the other hand they didn’t seem to be from a frozen package. The bread was from the freezer, though. About half the loaf was warm and the other cold. I got beef noodle soup and ribs. The soup was meh at best. The ribs were good though. They were smoked well. The meat came right off the bone and the sauce tasted a little sweet and a bit spicy. Not an amazing amount of flavor. The person I was with ordered the French dip. Like my ribs, the meat itself had very little taste. I will say the homemade cookies at the end were pretty good and a highlight but I love cookies so I might be biased. The last thing is that the decor looked like a “before” in “kitchen nightmares.” Maybe that’s why they keep it dark.

Normally I would rate this place 5 stars in past. But this time was, while still good, a bit less. Three problems. 1) A bit slow, but big groups, so I could have been ok. 2) didn’t know what a big ginger was, but maybe a drink more specific to Minneapolis/St. Paul area. 3) The big one was two steak dishes were overdone. Medium-rare was on high side of medium, just a touch of pink. The medium was less than well done, but pink was almost absent. Otherwise food taste and quality was good.

Great Martini special again as always… they infused their own apple vodka to make a wonderful spiced apple martini. Food was wonderful as always. I have never had a bad thing off the menu yet! One of my favorite local places to eat!
