Delicious! Probably my favorite Indian restaurant in the Northeast. Everything was packed with flavor and the portions were huge too.

I cannot complain about the food as it was really good. What I am upset about it the fact it took 45 minutes to get my food and then I open it up to find about 6 bites of chicken when I paid $18 for my meal. I was very disappointed.

Overall decent food with fairly large portions though a little pricey, especially the appetizers. So if you get an appetizer, a main course, and say a lassi and naan to share it will be about $40 per person after tax and tip (takeout). The special chicken biryani tasted a bit odd. Super heavy on the cardamom, but was dry overall, desperately needed a bit of ghee, and I don’t think I got the requested protein (marinated chicken) but what looked to be a deep fried darker meat which again was dry (both meat and breading/sauce). Not a fan of the huge slice of raw onion on top as well as lime with questionable rind and boiled egg (boiled to oblivion to almost greyish). Would prefer browned onions and cilantro or mint. A few cashews or peanuts wouldn’t hurt either. The naan was decent and not chewy, although having ordered a cheese naan, still looking for the cheese?!? The sambar vada was tasty, but quite filling and it was the first time having it so my expectations were low. I heard some microwave beeps and doors opening and closing while waiting for the food so hopefully ALL food is cooked to order and not the work of “Chef Mike”. The fourth star is there, albeit barely, thanks to the online ordering system which was convenient, and felt it was purposefully built. Lastly, the alarm system started beeping periodically and had to be shut off by staff. A bit annoying if you ask me.

Short review: We got take out and was probably some the best Indian restaurant I’ve had in my entire life (coming from an Indian). Not for those who can’t handle spice though!

Wow. This is Excellent Indian. Chennai is truly a must try. This is as authentic Indian as you will find here in Rhode Island. I am in awe that a place this amazing sits in a hole in the wall on Reservoir Ave. Everytime I am here the restaurant is filled with individuals enjoying their meal. Smiling, laughing and sharing time over great food. High praise to the family at Chennai for bringing us wonderful food with great flavor. You can tell they love what they do. You can taste the love in the food. Great job Chennai and thank you! We will see you soon. Pictures are of Tikki Massala and I tried the Kadai Chicken. Delish and something new for a lot of individuals.

I had terrible experience with my weekend dinner. I went there around 8:25 not knowing they close at 8:45. The lady at the front desk asked me to quickly order as I walked in. I had idli & vada and paneer biriyani. My understanding of this place is they (the chef) are from northern India but want to cover South Indian food as well. The vada was just a fried donut, hard. They may have microwaved them and brought to me.

Yummm. Authentic Chole Bhatura (don’t miss). Amazing Onion Rava Masala Dosa. If you can’t imagine how one restaurant can serve both “flawless” dishes, one from Deep South and one from deep Punjab, then check them out and decide for your self.

I was told to try out this restaurant because it’s so good. Well I got the chicken tikka masala and the chicken was good, but it didn’t come with any rice. I called about the issue and was told if I wanted rice I’d have to pay for it. I immediately lost my appetite after that and didn’t finish the food. I paid over $20 for chicken only . Very disappointing. This has to be a joke. I hope the restaurant see’s this as an error.
