I got the orange chicken and it was pretty good, however, the “fried” rice was absolutely flavorless and dry. It just looked and tasted like rice that sat out for a week with no salt or anything.

Clean place, fast service, but the lo mein was dry. Maybe because it’s on the line out front. Also had the curry shrimp which was OK but only 5 shrimps, just plopped on top and not part of the dish.

I used to like getting takeout from this restaurant up until last night when I requested that my mother’s food be cooked fresh to order.. the lady serving behind the counter looked at me in disgust for about 3 mins.. as if I had asked her to do something out of her job description.. I should have just walked out then and gone somewhere else.. I won’t be going back.. stir ur food and make it look fresh lady!..

I used to go to this place 20 years ago when I lived there. The food, service and atmosphere was much better back then. I have to say this is not as good as it was then. I guess the old guy that owned it back when it was on Tom Hill sr. Is gone. The woman waiting on me looked at me like I had grown 2 heads when I asked for Moo Goo Gai Pan for part of a combo plate. It used to be a regular staple. I did get other food that was out, but it’s bland compared to the original store. Then, it was always crowded. People loved it. Not so much for this one. Won’t go back. Disappointed sorry…

The customer service was amazing so I desperately wanted the food to be on the same spectrum. Unfortunately there was nothing special about the taste but the shrimp was a pleasant surprise. The size of the shrimp appeared to be a large. The search for good food continues.

Fresh cooked shrimp with broccoli is good. But the rice, under the lights leaves something to be desired. Not fresh. If it comes out the back, it’s going to be good. If it’s under the lights, well it is up to chance.

It was an overwhelmingly positive experience at Chen’s Wok VIII. The staff was very accommodating and worked personally with me to find a meal that fit my dietary restrictions. Not only were they helpful, but also incredibly joyful and kind. You can tell that they care about each person and that they know each person is unique and unrepeatable The portion sizes were generous and plentiful. A further star comes in the fact that they were open late on a Sunday night and thus helped us dearly on our long road trip. We hope to hit all the other Chen Wok’s at some point, and definitely come back to this one in Macon again. Thank you Chen’s Wok VIII for an unforgettable evening.

Lovely people and delicious food. No frills, straightforward, just what we wanted for a quick stop to grab dinner on a road trip. They did not have ready to go vegetarian options so they quickly made up a veggie noodles takeaway for us and it is yummy!
