Now open and newly renovated Chesters Tavern. After nearly a 2 years hiatus we were finally able to open. Originally we were going to do a small renovation, and open back up pretty quickly. However, as you may know, the place needed serious work. After about 6 months into the project, we decided to do a full rehab on the building. Fun fact, the only original item remaining is the deck pizza oven which is over 30 years old and still creating that original Chicago style tavern pizza. Come in and see the new Chesters Tavern and try the pizza.

Their pizza comes in the quintessential Chicago pizza box – the Italian Boot with the Real Wisconsin cheese logo. Luckily, the pizza is more than worthy of the cool box. The tavern style pizza is delicious, crust is crispy. $10 pies on Mondays. The tavern is cool and modern, yet unpretentious. They recently updated the place – it’s very nice.

We went here on a recommendation from a friend. They just re-opened about two weeks ago. We were pleasantly surprised. Pizza was amazing. Chili was very good also. Pretty much a very nice bar, but there are also tables along the front window and side wall. We sat at one of the high tops along the side wall. Bartender (Paula) was super friendly and went out of her way to talk with us. The owner also came over and talked with us for a while. Very friendly. We will definitely be back.

Stopped by for lunch today….had their cabbage soup….which was one of the best I’ve ever had….and their tavern style pizza…good lord…it was super delicious….just what a Chicago style tavern pizza should taste like…thin…crispy…and delicious! …Chesters is totally renovated and modern…but still has the same charming local hometown neighborhood feel….welcome back!
