First time in the foundry, wasn’t really hungry but at the back of the food court I saw this place with nobody in the line & figured I’d give it a go . Got the oxtails with red beans & cabbage it was all pretty good first time trying any of it . The female worker was really nice & she loaded my plate up with a large portion . Overall a solid choice of restaurant especially if you want some African cuisine .

The food is really delicious, but the portions have gone down. For two people, we paid a little over $31 for 2 plates of what is pictured. The first time we came here, there was a much bigger amount of chicken. Also, watch out for the chicken bones—each piece is filled with them and they are easy to choke on!

Chez Ali is one of the underrated options within the City Foundry food hall. It is located on the far western end of the food hall, and I think the food items are among the more adventurous so they may not get as much traffic.

The best Jamaican food in St. Louis. Trust I have tried all of them. Chef Ali gives you plenty of food for your money. His Sister is my favorite person to see here.

Lots of food & decently priced! Is has the chicken sampler which was $17. It came with Yassa chicken (lemon pepper & Dijon flavors), curry chicken, jerk chicken, cabbage, and rice. It was good & I’ll definitely be back.

My first couple times eating here was great. Only complaints was that the menu is never on the tv which doesn’t make any sense to me.

Flavors were excellent, no denying that, BUT, there were dozens of chicken bone shards throughout our dishes and multiple pieces of chicken still had feathers on them, so we were unable to actually eat our meals. I’m sure some folks enjoy the extra challenge, but that was the most painful and nearly tooth-cracking meal we have ever had. I talked with the young woman at the counter and she was “politely” dismissive about my concerns without resolving the issue. See photos of bones meticulously picked out of rice and sauce and some of the chicken feathers. We spent more time avoiding bones than eating, and threw away most of our meals. A refund or offer to remake on a future date after making a new batch with better quality control was all I was asking for, but that didn’t happen.

Some of the best food I’ve eaten in STL, and I have had a lot over the years from many very fine dining establishments. Everything I had was excellent – jerk chicken, beans and brown rice, and steamed cabbage. I am quite full from the generous portions, but I nevertheless want more. I know I will be back soon. This place is LEGIT. Perhaps the best chicken I’ve ever eaten.

friendly service and great portion size. they should put on their website that you have to call in to order certain dishes, and the cabbage could use a lil seasoning. but i will order again.

Chez Ali’s Yassa chicken is the best bite I’ve had in St Louis. Every time I visit, I’m blown away. It’s so tasty, so consistently excellent. Red beans and rice, jerk chicken, samosas, and plantains are all amazing too.
