I had a wonderful experience at Chez Jacques. The staff was warm, welcoming, and very helpful. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Also, for those of you that worry about the portions at French restaurants, the portions were great as well. We had a few appetizers, the duck, scallops, and the pork chops. The food was all very tasty and the sauces were delightful. This was the most authentic French restaurant I’ve eaten at in Milwaukee hands down. The atmosphere was very nice as well, not too crowded and a reasonable volume level so we could hold a conversation on a Friday night. I will go there again and highly recommend it!

Our food was very good. My wife is a very good cook and is normally very critical of restaurant food so the fact that she thought it was good means something to me. We plan to go there again to try several other dishes.

My husband and I made reservation for dinner there last night based on our positive experience there in the past – last visit there was last year. Last night will probably be our last, because our dinner was miserable. They must’ve had a substitute cook or it’s just that the cooking isn’t what it used to be. We noticed that the main dining rooms were both completely empty. They wanted to seat us at the front area by the bar and entrance. We said we requested on the phone for the main dining room. It turned out that due to low attendance and not planning to use those rooms, they turned the temperature way down. So our food went cold so fast. My husband ordered NY strip steak, it was so thin- was 1/4 ” slab and just butter poured on it. I ordered the duck (which I used to enjoy). It tasted like it was frozen and reheated, and the meat was tight and had no flavor, and the skin was not crispy. We didn’t care for the $9.50 roasted vegetable salad either. Blah! We hardly ate our dinner, but did bring the leftover home, so I can embellish and flavor it myself the next day.

I’ve been here for brunch many times now. Walking through the doors instantly transports you. It’s a true dining experience eating at Chez Jacques. The staff has always been kind to us and they love to talk about the food so ask plenty of questions. Take your time dining here, get drinks and appetizers, dessert.

We went there for brunch in September. The food was amazing, I got crab eggs benedict, and the service was great too. We sat in the backyard on a nice day. Great atmosphere.

It may come at a price that’s a little higher than you’re willing to pay, but for breakfast and lunch Jacques serves as a spot-on creperie that keeps things simple and flavorful.
