Absolutely amazing quality burgers and waffle fries. Underground Burger has some of the best in Whatcom County. Decently priced compared to other burger establishments within a 25 mile radius especially in terms of portion sizes. You get the bang for your buck here!

Burger was great – bun was cold. We found this place online and had so many good reviews we decided to try it. The burger itself was really good – super flavorful – just wish the bun had been warm. My friend wanted a ‘bun-less’ burger – usually wrapped in lettuce but was told they don’t do that. Instead they put the patty on top of chopped lettuce with only a slice of tomatoe. ( She ordered the same burger I did, so there was a few things missing eg. cheese etc.). Her burger really did look pretty skimpy BUT the flavor was there! Both of us were impressed with the flavor of the patty – we’ll be back!

I’m originally from the Chicago suburbs and was excited to try Chicago Joe’s. It was fun to see the Chicago sports and history decorations. I tried the Italian beef and felt like it was a reasonably authentic sandwich although it’s been a long time since I’ve been back to Chicago. My son has the Underground double with sautéed onions. Both sandwiches were big and messy but also tasty. Be prepared with napkins. The thick crinkle cut fries were nicely seasoned, perfectly crispy on the outside and hot and soft in the middle. Also enjoyed the chocolate shake that was thick and creamy yet still easy to drink.

Beef dipped. Very tasty. I would not order this to go though. Dipped is dine in only. Service was okay. Atmosphere is nice and relaxing. Chi-town kind of vibes. I hope they get cheese sauce for the crinkle cut fries.

Fantastic Burger, and the waffle fries compliment it! Simply the greatest Burger in town! 1000% worth trying. I’m officially addicted to this wonderful Burger. I can’t believe it’s JUST $7.99 for an Underground Burger! – Edit: I also suggest trying their Waffle Crisps! I hope they stay! I really like them! Very unique.

FINALLY, a good burger in Lynden!! The seasoned waffle fries are great too. They are actually crispy, which is sadly rare these days. Grant and Bob can eat their mediocre hearts out.

The DooMed Space Marine
So I ordered the Chicago style hot dog, and a Italian sausage sandwich and a side of onion rings. First the hot dog while tasted great was very small, this hot dog was $6.99 so for the price that I paid I expected a bit more hot dog and toppings. As for the sandwich $11.99, unfortunately it was a soggy flavorless mess and come to realize it was not even the right type of sandwich until after we ate there and saw pictures online of the Italian sausage sandwich which I thought I ordered It turned out to be the Italian beef. The meat had barely any taste, and the peppers added very little flavor and were very messy. The bread was just immediately sogged out when it was brought to the table. I will say that I’m not from Chicago and I did not know that these come as wet sandwiches. There was no indication on their menu that this was a wet sandwich. The staff did not mention that we could order this wet or dry. The only saving grace for that was the onion rings which were actually very good. Unless I see some changes on size and quality of the food I will not be returning for Chicago Joe’s. Remember first impressions are everything. I really want to like this place and want it to succeed. I just cannot justify the price for what we received. We are a frequent customer of underground burger and are happy they are back at a new location.

This is a totally legit Chicago restaurant. They feature the two most iconic Chicago hand foods, The Chicago dog and the Italian beef. They are as good as any I’ve had in Chicago. To get it just right Joe even gets his buns from Chicago.

Friendly atmosphere, and the owner was very welcoming, and open to listen to his customers’ feedback. We loved the Underground Burger, the honey mustard BBQ sauce, and the fries were just right. We definitely are coming back to try the Italian Beef Sandwich.
