Pleasant visit to the Chicken King. Very nice staff. Clean restaurant. As for the chicken, not sure if they are ready for “King” status yet. It just didn’t wow me. It was very crispy which I love but not much in the flavor department. Even the red beans were a disappointment, they had a funny taste. Not sure how to describe it but cafeteria comes to mind. Ok in a bind but nothing to write home to momma about. The sweet tea was on point though.

I frequent this location when visiting the Acadiana area. An employee from the back dumped her ice, from a previous drink, in the fountain drink reservoir. She then took that same used cup and scooped ice out of the large ice machine from which they bag ice. She contaminated the whole ice machine!!! I sent an email to management with no reply. I will never patronize this location. If employees are doing that, what are they doing in the back. They already have a sign up for fountain drinks for employees versus bottled drinks. After that disgusting display, drinks should only be consumed on breaks and served from the customer side of the counter. GROSS GROSS AND GROSS!!!

I gave Chicken King in Opelousas La a 5 star because the quality of the food is terrific! The taste of the food very tasty and always consistent, the employees are very courteous and friendly. This is one place that welcome its customers. Chicken King employees have never prepared and served me anything that they wouldn’t eat themselves. Thanks You all. Job well done..

Quite possibly the best fried chicken & seasoned fries I’ve purchased. With the wait time, the food is prepared fresh, chicken pieces (white) were large, well battered, seasoned with Cajun spices, served hot & was delicious. The dining area is clean and the staff is friendly!!

They have the best hamburgers around Opelousas and have been around, to by knowledge, since the 1940s (World War 2 era). It used to be a take out only place at the time when i was a kid and we used to buy hamburgers and chicken here back when I visited my grandmother (she died in January of 2009). I was visiting Lafayette and came down to Opelousas to eat here because I remember how delicious the food was. One thing I noticed is they added the dining room which is very nice and the food is still the best ever, exactly like it tasted when I was a kid and when my dad was a kid. No trip to Opelousas is complete without stopping and eating here. This is one of my favorite places along with Soileau’s. The service here is very friendly and the atmosphere with 1950s music is wonderful.

Been going to Chicken King since hmmmm 1972. Got the fried chicken, what else?! Dee lish again!! Love what they did with the building, went with my Mom &Aunt & Uncle, they got the barbeque. Absolutely no complaints. Had to wait to eat my chicken & fries because it was so HOT but it was worth the wait and I’m really glad we went. Good job on the building,people, nice, clean, open space… thank you.

Chicken us always delightful! Sweet potato frues are awesome. Window service is horrible. They wait on the customers on the inside before they do the walk-up window. Not good
