Writing this at 1230am midway through a loaded chicken burrito and ay Dios mío. It’s a far cry from the days of lee chens but this new l st staple is a rare blessing of one of the most loved cuisines in the world…Mexican food. Authentic, large portions, and reasonably priced this location is superb. The staff was exceptional and they were still delighted to see me stumble in near close. I can see myself trying the whole menu or having the same burrito every week. Don’t go here so that I can continue to walk in without having to wait.

Growing up around the corner, I moved to Brooklyn for tacos especially. So now to come home and have tacos this good down the street, is something I’m still kind of processing. VERY good. Great quality, good service. Well worth a visit

Great tacos! It took a bit longer than expected to prepare my Birria tacos, but it soon became clear why. I would call these soft tacos but the shells were toasted to a crispy but chewy perfection! The tacos were generously portioned with beef and the accompanying broth was savory with just the right amount of kick from the onion and cilantro. I would definitely eat here again!

Chilacates is the BEST. So excited to have them in the neighborhood. I used to go to the JP location all the time. I had to visit the new Southie one once I saw they opened and it was great as always. Can’t wait to go back again!

I’ve gotten Chilacates from the South End location 1-2x a week for the past year. Absolutely love it, especially the carne asada. I’ve tried the South Boston location 3x now since it’s closer for me to pick up but it’s just not the same as the South End one. Not sure if it’s owned by the same family or a franchise situation but only giving it 4/5 stars until it improves. Especially different was the carne asada, the South End one melts in your mouth but this locations was a bit dry. Hope they can keep things consistent as they brand out.

Best burritos, tacos, birria, tortas in town. I’ve tried it all and it does not disappoint. Huge focus on fresh ingredients so the quality is unmatched. Really helpful quick service in a cool space. I want to buy bottles of the salsa verde and send it to everyone I know. Such an important addition to the neighborhood.

Skeptical. Got a chicken tinga burrito and got home there was no chicken. They did refund for the burrito over the phone. I went back later to get the same thing. But second time all the extras like guacamole and pico de galo and hot sauce were on the side in individual containers? Unsure why this wasn’t in the burrito. Not great. Would rather drive to the south end location
