if you’re looking for hot, yummy Chinese takeout then this place is it. The portions are generous. I usually order sweet and sour chicken and have never been disappointed.

I order the bourbon fried rice combo which came with pork in the rice and a pork egg roll. I exchanged the pork egg roll for a shrimp eggroll for an extra charge. The chicken was obviously old and not fresh. It was extremely chewy, dry and tough on the outside. My “shrimp” egg roll had no shrimp and a MUSH of shrimp flavor in it. Ontop of everything else the rice was hard! This meal was horrible and I will never eat here again! Btw, this was 12pm! Therefore, EVERYTHING should be freshly cooked but it WAS NOT!

Sometimes you just really need some good takeout. China 1 can provide you with just that, usually in under 15 minutes! Ordered General Tso’s and Orange chicken combination dinners and they were both piping hot and delicious. Portion sizes were very generous, expect to have leftovers even if you have a big appetite. This location does have a few tables if you prefer to eat inside. I will return here the next time I’m wanting some tasty Chinese food.

I don’t know what others expected but I know this place is great. Lunch portions are huge, flavor is fantastic. The most outstanding thing was the service, I have never had better service at a carry out/ dine in Chinese place. I will be back.

Ordered combo of general tso and orange chicken. Both combos came with the same chicken so not sure which one we got after repeatedly asking them to make sure we got the correct combos. I Asked for regular fried rice and got yellow rice with pork for both. Egg rolls that came with the combo are charred and inedible. Upon eating the chicken, I almost threw up after seeing what I pulled out of my mouth after I couldn’t chew a piece. Please refer to the picture for the nasty string-like thing that was supposedly “chicken”. I also called for a refund and was told no because general tso and orange chicken are “popular” and “everyone orders them” as if I was lying about what I found in my food. I will never eat here again. I am absolutely disgusted by the food and the customer service.

Our last experience was good, so we tried again, and everything was a little off. Star anise was super strong in the chicken with veggies, so effectively a black licorice dish with burnt fried rice. (That’s why we stopped going before, but gave it another shot a year or two later.) I actually tasted the charcoal base in my house special fried rice, which was chewy and dry besides. Tried with wonton strips in the egg drop soup but same, the strips were burned, but it was the flavor of it, not the appearance. Maybe the oil was burned? Even the fortune cookie tasted off, somehow. Careful.

We tried multiple times here, but everything tastes so strongly of star anise (licorice flavor) that it overpowers any other flavors. Today, the fried rice and egg rolls were way overcooked – almost burned – and the egg drop soup tasted bad too – maybe burned oil? Anise problem remained. Really nice staff, but unfortunately, we won’t be back since we’ve struck out too many times here.

My first time eating here and will be my last. I was charged twice at this establishment and when I called and told them of the error the lady was very rude and told me I needed to take it up with my card company. Upon calling my bank it showed two separate transactions from this place. Will be disputing one of the charges and never returning.

China1 on Lagrange Rd has to me, really great food. Always fast service. Hot fresh food. You can eat in, but it’s more of a take out restaurant.
