Out of all the places I have had Chinese food, this one is by far my favorite! The food is so delicious and for a very reasonable price! The owners are always so sweet when I come in and basically know my order at this point! Definitely would recommend!!

Don’t get Chinese in a small town…. It turns out to be microwaved chicken chunks, flavoring you need to drizzle on for yourself, and soup that has multiple leaves of lettuce just drifting on top. The fried rice will be charred white rice and the whole meal will make you appreciate fast food Chinese.

I don’t know what was up with the food but we ordered seasame chicken, 3 orders of crabragons, eggerolls, beef and broccoli, beef lo mein, and a beef and vegetables. Came up to $50 we also got two tiny things of white rice. We called ahead to head order on Sunday 4/7/19. Took an hour for the food to be done which of course was no problem. My only problem was the quality of food. The beef& broccoli was soupy even with the rice mixed, the beef and vegetables was also soupy with rice. The lo mein was flavorless and to dry. The seasame chicken was just plain fried breaded chicken the you mix the seasame sauce. Which our seasame sauce wasn’t very seasame….. I know me and my company won’t be buying China gate again…. Maybe it was the mass amount of orders being made that day or maybe it just sucks. It’s a chance I’m just not willing to take again.

My husband and I always try to stop at China Gate when we are in Shenandoah. My family have been customers for at least 25 years. They serve the best General Tso’s Chicken bar none. I’ve tried it at a lot of different places and no one compares with China Gate. The same is true with their Egg Foo Yung. And their egg rolls. Their lunch buffet is smaller than many others but the food is fresh and hot. The decor is typical of all Midwest Chinese restaurants, but it’s food is anything but typical.
